if all went well it should be opening today. One of the old asst. managers at the saucer is managing there.

i'm just not sure how many people living in that area will feel about paying $5 for a sierra nevada pale ale and $6+ for everything else.

Yeah I'm anti-Taco Mac. Beers are way too pricey there, I'd rather go to Duckworth's where the food is at least pretty good to go with the beers.

^^ Yeah, Jason's there. Smaller $beer selection, but a little quieter/cozier than the South Park monstrosity. Prices suck but at least the Bad Dogs/ Boredwalk's crowd may keep away.

I'm starting to backtrack on my anti Taco-Mac stance.

Went there last night and their food was actually improved. Had a pulled turkey sandwich (like bbq) with spicy bbq sauce on it. Fries were great too. They also have the Coca-Cola Freestyle which is pretty awesome for an admitted Diet Coke addict.

i need to eat something there besides wings. It's just that everytime I walk in i smell wings and immediately can't focus on anything else on the menu.

that coke freestyle thing looks awesome. I've never seen one before.

^ Ditto
I can't help but feel like I'm cheating on the Saucer there, though. Even if Jason Christ is managing.

I'm going tomorrow night! I don't think I've ever gotten the wings just because I saw the nutritional information on them

ate at Fenwick's last thursday. definitely the youngest couple there. I knew it drew an older crowd, we were actually going to the Diamond (complete 180 lol) before I pulled into the gas station next to Fenwicks and just decided to walk over and check it out. We got a free slice of pecan pie for it being our first time. I'll actually go back.

My old roommate spent a mint at Fintastic in Ayrsely trying to run a saltwater tank about four years ago. Nice looking shop.

knocked out a ton of homes around me in Elizabeth/Chantilly but thankfully ours was not. The neighborhood bars were packed with those escaping the dark. It was a big storm, blew a tree down at my parents' house in concord.

has anyone tried the new "The Original Italian Pie" or also called simply "The Pie"? It's over on East Blvd. near Big Daddy's and Brixx.

there is a Living Social deal of $30 for $15 for food and drink today.

Apparently it's a small chain from Louisiana with 12 stores there and only two others, one in Texas and the new one here in Charlotte.

so do the bars at NC Music Factory get any business if there aren't any shows that weekend? Saturday late afternoon we were stopping into a few places for drinks just enjoying the day and decided to ride over there to check out that VBGB place. Yeah it was past lunch, pre saturday night bar time but still the entire neighborhood was dead. There was no one at VBGB so we didn't even stop. I enjoy going there for concerts, but other than that it's somewhat out of the way.

I have been underwhelmed with NC Music Factory. Went to VGBG once and the beer selection wasn't very impressive, nor was there much of a crowd. I will say the soft pretzel was good. We went to Wet Willy's this weekend and was just not our scene, especially with the White Party crap going on in the courtyard area.

Uh what area, unless you're willing to drive 30+ minutes to some of the places we might suggest.

Also what are you looking for? American? Pizza? Italian? Expensive? Burgers?

yeah narrow it down for us some. location/atmosphere/price range. don't want to send you somewhere to eat off paper plates and wet wipes when your looking for table clothes and red wine or vice versa.

if you want something easy, chic, and fun for a small group I always recommend Soul Gastrolounge. It's tapas, but you can definitely fill up and they have a pretty decent drink list including their own specialties

one of the large trees that line 4th street around the hospital area was either blown down or struck by lightning. It fell right into the middle of the road during 6pm evening traffic only a minute or two before I rolled upon it.

Sorry..that was pretty stupid...I'm staying that the aLoft @ the Epicenter....anything in the uptown area. Anything in the area out by Brio as well.

Epicentre actually has some good food. Mez is one of my favorite places for a work lunch. There's a good sushi place there as well (Enzo).

If you like Thai food there's a place called Basil that's pretty good. Burgers you could go to Nix. Blackfinn has better than average bar food.

If you're down in Southpark near Brio I would highly recommend Paco's Tacos. Terrace Cafe and George's Brasserie are in the same area as Brio and they're both really good.

This might be a long shot, but is there a drummer in Charlotte who would want to try and play some post-rock? I have a guitar and keyboard. Not terribly good at either
