Does anyone have one of those pull-up bars that wedge in a door frame? I would like to get one but I would rather come up with something else if it's going to damage the door frame. Any specific model recommendations or other ideas?

I have one didn't do any damage to the door frame besides small holes from where you put the screws in.

yeah, i also intended to get all 5, plus a full arm workout, but i ran out of time and had to leave and get ready for a flight tonight. i still feel like i got a good workout in, though. doing all 5 sets would be nasty if you were really doing them "for time" (I was doing more like "a fairly quick pace"...definitely not full tilt)

well, just joined a gym and today was the first day to work out or whatever.

it was a cardio day or whatever its called.

anyway, I swam laps for an hour, damn near collapsed when I got out the pool. I ain't doin that again, gonna break it up in 15 min segments next time. plus my ears kinda hurt right now.

Crossfit WoD:

With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

Use as many sets each minute as needed.

Post number of minutes completed to comments.



I got 11 (doing dead-hangs, not kips), then did a total of maybe two dozen more pull-ups for good measure. (I could've definitely made at least 12 rounds, except that I had two friends working with me, and towards the end, we were cutting into each other's time on the bar)



then legs:

1x5 overhead squats
5x5 squats
4x8 leg curls
4x10 leg extensions
4x10 standing calf raises

10 pull-ups (touching chest to bar)
10 glute-ham sit-ups with medicine ball toss


then back:

3x10 lat pulls
3x10 seated low rows
3x10 each side one-arm cable lat pulls
3x8 T-bar row

leg day got the best of me today. Normally heaving squatting is enough to make me want to puke, but combining that with the beer and cheap grilled meat that goes along with Friday cookouts made it that much worse.

went for a 12-hour hike yesterday.

climbed Mount Harvard (14,427 ft) about 17 miles or so, 5400 feet of vertical gain (yes, that's about another mile up & a mile down)

Mileage last five weeks: 162, 140, 125, 133, 126.
(5 days of doubles, one 20-24 mile long run, two track workouts, one tempo run).
Strength work 4-5 days per week is usually made up of:
crunches, pushups, pullups, strength work, stretching, form drills.

Pretty much every week is very similar to this, so no need to ever repost.

man my legs are so weak...i bet if i do 8 reps of one set with a 45 on each side my legs are gonna hurt for like 5 days

I'm officially allowed to lift weights again! I'm supposed to start with machines first, then progress to barbell exercises, and in a few more weeks I'll be ok to go back to using dumbbells. It'll be a while before I can do big lifts like deads and cleans though.

I'm giving very serious consideration to joining a boxing gym if I can find anybody who is willing to join with me.
