and i bumped mine and got he smallest dent imaginable near the mute switch, and the phone was in mute mode permanently...it broke the switch. and the apple guy acted like he was doing me the biggest favor in the world replacing it under warranty. but overall, i agree with you...they are pretty damn solid phones.

i do, but its a year old, and i have added 100+ numbers since then
its a dated excel file

i called apple: they said upgrades in a version number 1.x, 2.x upgrade only small things around contacts, email, and shit, but upgrades between version numbers wipe everything and itunes will only back up photos and music, but WONT ask you to backup your contacts using outlook, like it should. no warning, nothing, i thought it was doing it for me, wrong

im so fucking pissed

what should i do? are they still on there? ive accessed deleted data before on HDs, but, iphone?

I thought the iphone synced contacts with address book every time you plugged it in? So if it's on the phone but not on the computer, it will add it to the computer.

yeah, it treated it like a 'restore' rather than an upgrade, therefore wiping everything and putting fresh 2.0 on, and it doesnt sync contacts by default - didnt know that either

I've got a 16GB 2G right now. Based on the prices going for unlocked 2G of that size and the fact that 2.0 will have a pwnage tool by mid next week, I'll probably go grab a 3G today. I'll actually profit. I wouldn't do this if I didn't already have a 2G and an ATT contract, but for those of us with active 2G phones and the wherewithall to unlock/sell, I don't know why you wouldn't at this point.

Now this was a superior machine. Ten grand worth of gimmicks and high-priced special effects. The rear windows lept up with a touch like frogs in a dynamite pond. The dashboard was full of esoteric lights and dials and meters that I would never understand.

I have the older 16gb version of the iphone, and it just got fucked up. I was thinking about just upgrading to the 3g, but someone told me the service is more for it... is it worth it? and how much would a new old version iphone run me vs a new 3g?

and what would yall do in this situation?

ever since i updated my software, the text messaging on my phone has been going really slow. when i type, there is a delay before the letters go on the screen... and when i hit backspace, it takes a second to register. it's really annoying. wtf

mine used to do that randomly.. can't remember what caused it now. i know if i hit backspace a lot of times it'd erase my whole message bc it was so unresponsive i couldnt tell how many times i had hit it

The battery life on my 1st gen has gone down dramatically with having my work's exchange server push to the phone. I don't know if i should turn off push (i've lived without it for so long now), or if I should go get a 2nd gen unit.


Do any of you 2nd gen folks see your batteries draining very quickly with an exchange account and push enabled?

Anyone else just go ahead and do a direct fulfillment order? After being told the first day that they'd have more in stock the next day and then having the person ahead of me get the last one in stock, I went ahead and paid to have one shipped to the store. Should ship tomorrow.

Couple days won't kill me, and the 2.0 upgrade is helping me wait

Are settings within downloaded programs saved or just the programs themselves? Basically, I'm asking because I've got bloomberg set up on the orig. iphone with the 2.0 software, and am wondering if I'll have to set the whole thing up again when I get the 3g version or not. Thanks for any help.
