A few thoughts:
- That makes three HBO shows that prominently displays incest - I'm glad Russell is back, he has definitely been the best and most likable villain the show has had. - I still don't understand why Sam is even nervous around the werewolves ... he could easily turn into a rhino or a silverback gorilla or something and just tear them in half. - Now it looks like Terry has some kind of supernatural ability. In the tiny town of Bon Temps, the only full fledged humans are Andy, Arlene, Hoyt, and possibly Jason (questionable since he might still be some kind of were-panther). 6/10/2012 10:32:22 PM |

It's a stretch to call that incest.
Buy i'm with you on everything else. The werewolves are not the big deal they make them out to be. Sam can turn into anything, this shouldn't even be an issue. 6/10/2012 10:45:59 PM |

I'm assuming they are siblings through Godric, so it's not that icky
Last season they said Jason is not a were panther since you can only be were if you inherit it

I thought it was a great season opener. I'll also say that in my opinion nothing that is going on with Terry is supernatural. At least I haven't seen anything yet to suggest as much. You might be looking into it too much. 6/11/2012 8:44:41 AM |

He might just be affected by something supernatural rather than have powers of his own. Happens so often in this town that I'm amazed anyone still lives there.
It was an alright episode. You knew they weren't going to kill off Tara. Actually I had hope that they would since they spared Lafayette on viewer opinion alone maybe they'd kill her off on viewer opinion.

I think the response to this is that he has to have had exposure to and have studied the animals he's shifting into. If that were the case, I'd be at the motherfucking zoo or in Africa or something and turn into an elephant or a polar bear or a whale. I agree, Sam's an idiot.6/11/2012 9:07:13 AM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
It looks like the thing with Terry is some kind of curse -- he may not have any actual supernatural abilities but he definitely has more exposure than you'd expect for someone in a small town. Looks like his squad ran into something in Iraq... I swear if it is some kind of mummy curse or something this show will have officially gone crazy.
Agreed on Sam though. Although it would be cool if he turned into a dinosaur he'd probably have to be exposed to them a lot which obviously isn't an option. I, too, would think he'd have spent a lot of time studying the worlds strongest/fasest/most agile creatures. If he was able to switch between them immediately he could easily take out the entire pack of werewolves. Hell he could just turn into a whale and flatten all of them. Although it would be way too over the top for a show like this (which is saying a lot), if he could turn into a cheetah and hit top speed, then jump and turn into a whale he would could take out a few houses... imagine a whale flying through the air at like 70 mph. 6/11/2012 9:13:22 AM |
disco_stu All American 7436 Posts user info edit post |
Honestly, I don't think 70mph flying whale is "too over the top" for this show. 6/11/2012 9:21:24 AM |

The method for shifting in the books is just that he has to see one right before he shifts. So, he kept a book of animals on his coffee table (open to the collie he liked) before he would shift. He shifted into a lion in the books, so I wouldn't think it's too far fetched to do that in the show too
And I don't think Terry is supernatural, but I think his new friend in town definitely has something off about him.

Yeah, I don't think he has any powers. But I could maybe see the idea that something happened in the way, which maybe caused him to go a little crazy.
Sam turned into something and stabbed the chick in season 2 or whatever. I don't see why he couldn't at least turn into that. I do seem to recall him not knowing he could turn into different stuff until around that time though.6/11/2012 9:31:23 AM |

This show has officially deviated 100% from the books. I'm at peace with it.
!st episode was good, but the 2nd got annoying. I don't understand what the authority is pissed with at Bill and Eric. I know they killed Nan, but the authority is making it out that they are not aligned with their mainstreaming efforts. Which they are. I'm confused to who is against the authority and how Eric's sister is one of them.
Also, I'm glad to see Doctore from Spartacus doing work. 6/18/2012 9:19:36 AM |

^^^vampire story deviation, yes...and i too am 100% at peace with it. Very excited actually. but i do see one story that they might be doing that's still book related. I won't say further itt.
Also...I got that the authority is pissed at Bill and Eric bc not only did they kill Nan, but Bill didn't give Eric the true death as ordered by the authority, and they showed up to the witch store with guns blazing (where's that silly gif of them "dancing" due to the force field? I posted it I think ), and now they are somehow connected with Nora's plan to save them.
But I think Emma is like 10 or 11. She could be developing early (like some other girls do).
