^4 Not sure what your point is...I think Ohio State would lose to most of the 10 teams ranked behind them if they played on a neutral field.
Also, SC won by two TDs, I think that overcomes much of the home-field advantage. It was a fairly convincing win, its not like it was some fluke last second 60 yd field goal or something. SC stopped the Alabama running attack cold.

^ since they'll never play SC 10 times you can't really say that with certainty. When you have a head to head matchup then you have to go off of that, not what you *think* would happen most of the time. 10/10/2010 5:01:25 PM |

If South Carolina plays like they did against Alabama yesterday, they can beat anyone.
That being said, Alabama didn't help themselves either. They didn't attempt to run with Ingram/Richardson for almost all of the 4th quarter. 10/10/2010 6:09:13 PM |

Anyone else watch this BCS countdown show on ESPN where they did the "mock BCS" (basically the BCS calculations excluding one of the computer formulas).
They had Boise at #1 and Oregon at #2. The hosts acted outraged that Ohio State was at #5 Ohio State homerism in the media makes my head hurt. 10/10/2010 8:56:48 PM |
Dammit100 All American 17605 Posts user info edit post |
^really?? OSU homerism? why should they be #5? they're #1 in both major polls, and aside from a slip-up @ Illinois, have won every game convincingly. Sure, their SOS isn't the toughest, but #5 is too low. I could see Oregon ahead of them, but that's about it at this point. 10/10/2010 9:09:54 PM |

Just taking undefeated teams into account.... Oklahoma, Oregon, Auburn, and LSU have all played a much better set of teams. Boise State I think has the edge on Ohio St w/ the games against VT (in essentially a VT home game) and Oregon St.
All Ohio State has got is a 12 pt home win against Miami; a game where Jacory Harris did his best Harrison Beck impression. 10/10/2010 9:44:35 PM |

^ I cannot believe you are actually arguing that Ohio State has played a tough schedule. Outside of playing an overrated Miami team at home and a possible under rated Illinois team, they have played no one. There are a lot of schools that would be 6-0 against that same competition including every major SEC team, Oregon, Boise State, and shit even NC State could be undefeated against that schedule. 10/11/2010 7:46:24 AM |
jbtilley All American 12797 Posts user info edit post |
People always downplay Boise State and TCU because of their SOS but you could just as easily criticize Ohio State for the same thing, yet every year you'll hear people that are willing to give a two loss OSU a shot at the national title.
Also Ohio State has 8 home games this year.

here, check this out and quit bitching about Ohio State for a little while - youve got all season to fight about the strength of schedule

Brutus beat Smokey this week. After you vote for your favorite mascot(s) they ask you to vote for a mascot that you want to see in the competition next year, so vote for Mr. Wuf. Right now I think the Oregon State Beaver is the #1 write in vote, with VaTech's Hokey bird up there as well 10/11/2010 9:02:47 AM |

I don't care too much about OSU winning all these games with the shitty schedule because they'll end up getting blown out by whoever they play in their BCS bowl game. It only sucks if they make it to the championship game and prevent some other deserving team from getting a shit to play for the national title. But that's what you get with the BCS I guess. 10/11/2010 9:05:09 AM |
