Pretty funny. This one attending of mine, who went to UF for undergrad, emailed me this after we lost Vandy.

Attending: Just so you know, Vandy is (at best) a 3rd tier SEC team...

Me: This is true. Of their 9 wins this season, their win against my Wolfpack today was their first against a team with an over .500 record. Few teams win when they turn it over 5 times and also have a lame duck coaching staff to boot. At least the basketball team has been blowing out their opponents as of late.

We talked about UF's bowl game before I left for home for the holidays, and he scoffed at Louisville saying that they were awful and from the Big East. UF would blow them out. I agreed with him and mentioned how they couldn't beat State last year, and that we obviously suck.

I did not stay up to watch the game last night, but I am pretty damn happy that UF got beat so soundly. I truly felt that they were overrated as hell all season. Plus Strong was coaching there just a few seasons ago so it's not like he wasn't still somewhat knowledgable about their players and their weaknesses. Also why does Will Muschamp looks like a lost kid in mall all the time?

Mariota looks pretty decent but it's so hard to tell how good of a passer he really is because of Oregon's offense. It's pretty rare he's actually asked to throw it more than 15 yards. He might be a hell of a passer, but I haven't seen it.

I'm sure I'm letting past Oregon QBs cloud my view of him.

An extra point was blocked outside of the endzone (it was blocked and recovered at like the 2 yard line)...a lineman on the defensive team recovered the block and...like a dumbass...ran in back into the endzone (thinking he could go around all of the players and possibly run it back) and ended up getting tackled in the endzone.

If it was during a normal play (not an extra point), it would have been a 2-point safety. But since it was during an extra point, it was only a 1-point safety (for the offensive team).

Kind of like what happens if you block an extra point and run it back (or intercept/recovery a fumble during a 2-point conversion and run it back)...it's only 2 points...instead of a regular touchdown during any other play.

I mean...I think the rule makes sense.

First of all...in regards to lesser points during PATs and 2-point conversions...they make sense. You shouldn't be able to get TDs on plays involving minimal points.

Second...I like the fact that you are rewarding and punishing teams for their play. If that guy had been able to run it back for a TD...congrats...here's two points. But he fucked up and ran backwards into the endzone..so he gets punished...and then the offensive teams gets rewarded for keeping up with the play and tackling him in the endzone. And I think it's correct that they only get one point because they would have only gotten one point had the play succeeded. You shouldn't reward them 2 points just because that defensive guy fucked up.

It's an interesting rule...but I agree with it.

I don't like that 1 pt safety rule because the defense did it's job on the play in blocking the extra point. Once the ball was loose, it becomes chaotic on the field so a guy running a couple yards backwards is not unheard of. Oregon failed on that play, but still got their 1 point which to me is shitty.

Whatever though it made no difference in that game, but what if that happened during the State-FSU game...
