Oh yeah Durant never gets any calls
How's he go to the line 10 times a game then?
And you're making my point for me. Despite all the BS calls that Wade gets, Harden still has far superior shooting stats than Wade in every category. 6/21/2012 11:18:27 PM |

I'm not arguing who is better between a bench player like Harden and a washed up player like Wade
I'm simply saying the Thunder's true superstars, Durant and Westbrook, don't get the calls that the Heat's superstars get
the eye test makes it obvious, the box scores don't even address it

Sucks the playoffs are over, my favorite sports time of the year the past several years. Guess we all have to go back to being productive again.
No sports for a few months other than the NBA draft. I guess if you're really bored you can pretend to care about the Olympics.

Lebron absolutely dominated and OKC didn't have it. Battier was one of the top pickups of the off season. Doesn't mean people are going to care for the smug way they often carry themselves or the style of play of guys like battier. 6/21/2012 11:34:50 PM |

I really wish hockey would consider moving their season/playoffs back.
I think they really underestimate how many new fans they might pick up. I mean no sports fans (other than diehard hockey nuts) are going to watch that shit over an elite sporting event like the NBA playoffs, but if you put it up against regular season baseball and WNBA then people would have to watch some of it by default. And if you had a compelling playoffs like NYR/Boston instead of it all falling apart like it did this year with all the crap teams like Florida/NJ/etc advancing then you may really make some traction to where you're considered a major sport again.
I guess selfishly I'd like to have a watchable sport during the summer and financially it seems like it'd be great for the NHL. 6/21/2012 11:37:05 PM |

In all fairness Battier was pretty terrible all year including most of the playoffs. He came alive in the Finals to salvage the season, but that looked like a bad pickup until ~10 days ago.
I'm glad he got a championship though he's been a great player historically.6/21/2012 11:42:45 PM |

For all the hoopla of Lebron cheating by going to get help with Wade/Bosh and the whole "Wade is Batman, Lebron is Robin" argument that frankly is one of the worst arguments in the history of sports...
It's satisfying to see Lebron absolutely carry Wade/Bosh the whole way like that... I mean those guys ended up being one of the weakest supporting casts we've seen win a title in our lifetimes... 6/22/2012 12:51:24 AM |

Bosh was more like
Chalmers was more like
If Lebron hadn't saved Wade just in time he would've been all like
For a minute Russell Westbrook was all like
But then Scott Brooks was like "I have an EGGScellent idea to play Derek Fisher all series"
And now Lebron is the King Tut of the land

Would have heard about it either way. At least this way the narrative changes. I got sick of hearing the same old "how can he be the best player with no rings" thing over and over again. Now they'll have to change it to... he has to get [current # of rings] + 1 to be considered blah, blah, blah. Now I'm repeating myself.
Funny to see the "Miami gets all the calls" even come up at all during this game. If it weren't for all the foul shots OKC took in the 2nd they would have been blown up by 40 points. And in game 5 Harden was just as bad an actor as Wade ever was.

Lebron barrelling into Fisher for a flagrant on Fisher did it for me. Of course that was about the time Perkins committed a dumb wrap up foul on Bosh and Durant made two bad turnovers dribbling through traffic so it was clear the thunder were toast. 6/22/2012 8:16:40 AM |

OKC shot more free throws than Miami in 2 out of the 5 games this series. Miami did shoot a little less than 6 more free throws per game...but if you watched the games, it made sense because they attacked the basket with reckless abandon (with the exception of Game 1...where OKC shot 9 more free throws).
They were the better team this series and it really wasn't that close. 6/22/2012 8:17:51 AM |

Yeah officiating was pretty rough overall but I'd say it was pretty even on bad calls both ways.
Who'd have predicted before the series that James Harden would get outplayed by Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, and Mike Miller? Haha. Guess Herb downplayed all the big games too much to him. 6/22/2012 8:54:17 AM |

yea series was decided by 1 lebrons dominance (first player ever with multiple triple doubles in the finals, 26 25+ playoff games yes he broke his own record there) 2 Miami's bench/role player production although that also is partially because of lebrons courtvision and ability to find anyone anywhere on the court. its easy for any nba player to be productive when all they have to do is spread the floor and shoot uncontested 3's.
also.... comon bosh

Those bench players perform better than average on the stage of final because they also want a ring and the unusual atmosphere make them exciting. Especially when your team has the game point in the hand already, you don't have any pressure.
