^^^ehhh
nice tq increase ~3000rpms... but dude's not going to be getting the benefit of the high rpm hp increase during normal driving; I could be wrong.
I swapped a full exhaust onto the Dakota (flowmaster 2-1 merge with 3" all the way back), and felt a noticeable gain in the 4000-5000 range...well, the truck felt more 'willing' to rev that high. anyway long story short, that thing rarely ever sees more than 3000rpms, so, go figure 5/13/2013 7:46:22 AM |

2nd gen (2010). I have a ~65 mile round trip work commute. The car pays for itself in gas savings alone over DDing the C5 Z06. It's also nice to have a backseat, hatchback, ability to negotiate driveways and speed bumps, and much better refinement/NVH/dependability/maintenance costs.
It also has me freed up to sell the Z06 and have the Turbo Seven, as I can now have a dedicated "toy" car that doesn't need to pull DD duty.5/24/2013 12:16:33 AM |

replaced climate control panel and EBCM (ABS/TC/stability module) in the Z06.
replaced cabin air filter in the Insight. Had a shop replace the AC compressor and dryer element in the Insight.
changed oil in the Insight. started to change transmission fluid, too (even though the maintenance minder wasn't yet calling for it--thought I'd do it just to be safe, in case previous owner hadn't done it. The fluid looked like it just came out of the bottle, though, so I didn't bother.)

Removed the radiator cooling fan housing on the Integra. Fan motor went out a few weeks ago and I was lazy about getting to it. Had to remove the battery and disconnect 1-2 cooling hoses but otherwise piece of cake. Haven't picked up a new motor yet though, so car's just sitting there
Gave the BRZ 2 coats of Zaino paint finish Monday morning. While cleaning the car I discovered that someone had lightly side swiped my car and left some of their paint behind Zaino swirl remover took it right off though, thank God. 5/29/2013 12:25:46 PM |

Dropped the Seven off at a racecar fabrication shop (Foy Gilmore). He's going to build me a louvered aluminum hood, mount the driver's seat better (Kirkey bucket), and re-do a section of the steering shaft that's contributing to a tiny bit of slop in the steering. 5/30/2013 8:37:47 PM |

Almost traded in my 2012 JGC Overland Summit for a 2014 Summit. I would have done it if they had a color I wanted on the lot. Because they were willing to make it basically an even trade, the dealership wouldn't order one for me. I guess that doesn't fit the qualifications for posting in the thread... so dammit.

yeah, i went the cheap way on my wife's TL and bought the one online as well. it failed in less than a year.6/11/2013 9:41:44 AM |

well fuck, fingers crossed then It has a 1 year warranty I believe. Previous motor was the car's second, though it was part of an assembly I yanked from a junkyard car 8 years ago so it wasn't new either 6/11/2013 9:49:35 AM |

the original one had some help failing. i could get the whole shroud/motor/fan assembly cheaper than i could get the motor by itself, so i did that. and now that i think about it, it wasn't the motor that failed on the assembly i bought online. the glue holding the metal washer onto the plastic fan failed. the cheap motor was made in such a way that prevented me from removing the fan without damaging a bushing around the shaft. i ended up getting an OEM motor. not worth the hassle to save a few bucks, but my motor wasn't as expensive as yours. 6/11/2013 1:06:26 PM |

i wouldn't mess with the brz imho... not till the turbo model comes out....
headers crack and you'll need an access port to tune for them and at most you're looking at 15 hp and making it more high strung... 6/11/2013 1:10:03 PM |
TKE-Teg All American 43409 Posts user info edit post |
^^good to know
^I'm not so sure man. The FA20 has been responding very well. Here's a dyno sheet for a stock vehicle with the above posted header. No tune, 100% stock otherwise.
You can see it helps smooth out the torque dip from 3500-4500 rpm (which I can assure you really sucks...its pretty obvious) and adds a lot on the top end. Around town I spend a lot of time revving above 6 (only way to really hustle it). Either way, a 12whp gain without a tune is pretty impressive on an NA 2.0 engine. Tuning has shown to eliminate the torque dip even more, and add more power under the curve and up top (20-22 hp total). The UEL header also adds a nice exhaust growl to give the engine some personality. And its just a bolt on, could be removed whenever. 6/11/2013 1:21:39 PM |

I will warn ya, for some reason the flat4s have a huge tendency to crack headers...turbo or NA. I have seen everything from cheap Ebay ones to hell expensive ones crack. so be on the lookout for cracks if you go the header route. 6/12/2013 4:59:30 PM |

Thanks Mark. Also nice meeting you face to face Saturday
Installed new fan motor in the Integra. Not sure if that was the issue though, couldn't get the fan to turn on. Let the car idle for 15 minutes and the coolant temp gauge never budged from "normal". Drove it around last night (but it was cool out) so not sure if this was the issue or not
On an unrelated note my battery had been physically disconnected for about 3 weeks and when I reconnected it to the car it was 100% dead (odd for a 18 month old battery). Autozone recharged it for me and said there was nothing wrong with it. Go figure. 6/17/2013 9:15:39 AM |

once again we come into high and low reading dynos where you can only compare numbers on the same dyno... who knows where that one may read or what compensations some are running or lack their of on others. 6/18/2013 11:02:11 AM |
TKE-Teg All American 43409 Posts user info edit post |
^Exactly. I believe the highest recorded dyno hp figure for a stock BRZ is around 175whp.
My Integra put down around 140 whp when stock, with 215k on the odometer.
