Quote :
"His 26 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists in the closeout game represented, by any measure, the cherry on one of the greatest individual playoff runs in history. He averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds during the playoffs; moved to power forward when Chris Bosh missed nine playoff games with an injury; led rallies from deficits in three consecutive series; delivered one of the most dominating games of this generation with 45 points in a road elimination game in Boston; got his first Game 7 victory; set a record for number of playoff games with at least 25 points, five rebounds and five assists; and became the fifth player ever to have multiple Finals triple-doubles. You could go on and on. The summation is that James is a worthy champion. "

no i hate him and his dumb shock value remarks. the worst is when he just gets into yelling matches with stephen a smith.

i do, however, very much enjoy watching his brother Rick Bayless' show Mexico - one plate at a time. hard to believe they are related.

I know Cuban because Dallas is the team who hired Wang zhizhi, the first asian player. He's dumbass smart because he knew how big Chinese market was.

If I said anything bad about miller I'd be very surprised. He's been one of the most Underrated players in the league his entire career. His injuries last year were the main reason Miami didn't win the title (along with haslem s injury). So I'd need to see the quote where I said spoelstra shouldn't be playing miller.

Also, miller didn't play at all in this series until last night, so I really doubt I said that.

On top of that , I argued in each of the last two series that your best chance against Miami is to go big and force them to play two big men instead of going small with battier/miller at the 3 and Lebron at the 4.

The annoying thing about the board is that no matter how consistent you are in an argument someone always tries to make things up after the fact

Is this a joke?

Fisher body-checked him, with no intention of going for the ball. It was a textbook flagrant foul.

Next time defenders should just move out of Lebron's way when he barrels towards them, right? You must have hated the NBA in the 80s and 90s.

IIRC, you said something along the lines of "Miller is lookin like a decrepit old man out there" which could easily e confused as Miller PT Hate.

Rally has always been a monster Miller fanboy...but he definitely acknowledged how bad he was sucking during the playoffs...which he was. That Game 5 was a thing of beauty though.

I can't imagine him lasting another year, but if Battier and Chalmers can keep that level of play up and/or gradually improve, then the Heat will still be looking good next year. If Miller is done, then they'll obviously need another shooter and just try and continue to shore up their front line. Don't need big time players, just good defenders and rebounders.

nope, but hated those old Knicks-Heat slugfests

for a lot of the 90s and into the 2000s, the game deteriorated aesthetically. if it helps preserve more open, fluid play, i can put up with an occasional soft flagrant foul.

HOLY CHRIST! that Cuban video is incredible. reminiscent of Jon Stewart on Hardball.

I think that has a bit more to do with calls that impact the way the game is played...like hand checking versus heavy penalties on the occasional hard foul. Point guard play was also at a low point, partially due to the way the game was called.

Do you guys think LBJ's decision and success later shows that there won't be purer scorers like KB or MJ anymore? Basketball is changing from an individual-emphasized game to a team-emphasized game?

Some people think LBJ has had enough difficulties and pain on the road to ring. There's no quick way to the top. But for me, I still believe his winning is too easy. 3 superstars together equals to championship team. BOS and SAS's loss shows strategy and cooperation is not that important. Basketball is like 5 on 5 fight. Strong fighter will get the win.

Jordan was a great defender and rebounder that also surrounded himself with elite talent.

Kobe has played nearly his entire career surrounded by elite talent and was a good rebounder/defender himself. So I think the premise of this argument is silly.

There are plenty of guys in the league who can score and do nothing else. Those two were not just scorers.

But relatively speaking, they two have much more average points in their prime than players now.

Jordan didn't surround himself with elite talent. The supporting cast was more similar to the Heat, in that he had another Dream Teamer, an additional borderline all star (Grant/Rodman), and a bunch of serviceable role players (Paxson, Armstrong, Cartwright, Wennington and later Harper, Perdue, Longley, Kukoc, Kerr).

Also Lebron does arguably some of the things Jordan did, without as much scoring and assuming some of the Pippen role...

^^ MJ's usage rate was ridiculous (and it needed to be), and everyone knows/says how KB is a very effective scorer on high-difficulty shots (and also has a high usage rate). Nothing about LBJ's game will consistently be described as efficient until more of his shot charts look like the ones seen here: http://deadspin.com/5920508/fewer-threes-more-post-how-lebron-james-completely-overhauled-his-playoff-game

Whereas before he took too many 3s with that crooked-ass jumper, now he's looking to attack the rim or get the ball with his back to the basket, which will lead him both to shots that are fundamentally easier to make, and more free throw attempts.

[Edited on June 25, 2012 at 2:38 AM. Reason : KB, not KD]

^^ LBJ's shooting skill is poor, much worse than MJ or KB. And his penetration gets him injury very easily. He can only use his body, like DH.
He needs to improve shooting a lot. The final last year failed because of his 3 point shot bricks.

Is Kevin Durant not a pure scorer? I would argue that he is more of a pure scorer than Jordan or Kobe, who have/had much better all-around games. That being said, I'm looking forward to Durant becoming more of a complete player. He has the potential to be an all-time great.

Sad as it is, Lebron's jumper is vastly improved from his rookie season. Given his size/athleticism/passing ability, it just makes more sense for him to work from the post.

their career percentages are almost identical

the difference is, MJ sucked dick from outside the arc his first few seasons, and improved his shot over his career, posting multiple seasons with 40+ % shooting

lebron has pretty much been 30% every year of his career

Jordan is a better shooter period than Lebron, Lebron would be scary if he ever developed a jumper

Yeah I'm sure its just coincidence tree that Jordan shot well during the seasons where the nba moved the 3 point line closer by 2 feet but sucked every other season
