HOLY SHIT GREEN BAY PLAYED 4 TOURNAMENT TEAMS?
State played 4 tournament teams in the last 7 games.
(TBH i think UW-GB should have gotten in over BYU, although BYU probably gets in the same reason we got in - they had a lot of good wins on the road/not at home) 3/17/2014 9:53:15 AM |

Missouri, Wake, Clemson and Miami were our only 4 losses to teams NOT going to the NCAA tournament.
Missouri was in December and was a close game and at the time Missouri was #25 Wake was a bad loss, but they also beat Duke and UNC in Winston-Salem, so we're not in bad company Clemson was 3 days after our last second loss at Syracuse Miami was 3 days after our overtime loss to UNC
We've played 13 games against opponents also going to the NCAAs this year: @Cincinnati, NC Central, Eastern Kentucky, @Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Virginia, @Duke, @UNC, @Syracuse, UNC, @Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Duke. In those games we're 4-9, and with a slightly better officiating should have been 6-7.
Hardly played anyone? Bitch please.3/17/2014 10:13:35 AM |

that newspaper article title was done on purpose
I don't remember what woman said it this year, but the comment was "North Carolina State Tarheels" and I have NEVER heard someone say that on the air before. She immediately realized what she had said and spent the next 2-3 minutes laughing about it. I've heard plenty of times, "The North Carolina Wolfpack." Never heard that before.

Quote : | "The bracket-predicting model developed by Jay Coleman, Mike DuMond, and Allen Lynch had another strong performance in 2014, and has now predicted 108 of 110 at-larges over the last three seasons. The only miss was N.C. State, which the model put outside of the bubble, in favor of California.
This is a somewhat notable miss. Based on data from recent bracket selections, the committee has shown a small bias in favor of borderline squads in the Pac-12 , which the Dance-Card has attempted to account for. According to Professor Coleman, if this model adjustment were removed for this year, California would have fallen just barely below the bubble line, although Southern Miss, not N.C. State, would have moved up." |

People still having trouble understanding SOS is a big deal...
Quote : | "Judging from the reaction of NC State players to hearing their name called during the selection show, they were as surprised as anyone to make the field, and they should have been. Little about their profile suggested they were worthy of beating out an SMU team ranked in the Top 25 as recently as Monday or a Green Bay team that dominated its league and beat Virginia in non-league play but stumbled in the Horizon semifinals.
The four best wins NC State notched came against a fading Syracuse team, Pitt, Tennessee and Florida State, but the Wolfpack went just 3-8 against the RPI top 50. They also have three losses to teams outside the RPI top 100, one to NC Central, one to Wake Forest and one to Miami. With that many missed chances for marquee wins and that many bad losses, it would have been nice to see the committee reward the Mustangs or Phoenix for better seasons instead." |

our SOS is SOOOOO much better than all those bubble teams that we beat out that it isn't even funny.
NCSU - 23 SMU - 135 Green Bay - 155 Louisiana Tech - 211
Hell, our resume is much better than Iowa's, yet somehow we are getting blitzed by this negative perception? We're 6-10 vs RPI Top 100...Iowa is 7-11. We have a better RPI and better SOS. We were 7-5 over our last 12, they were 4-8. So why, again, are we getting blitzed and they aren't? 3/17/2014 5:06:45 PM |

I love the fixation on Green Bay's win over Virginia.
Green Bay beat Virginia in early December, before Virginia had even figured out how to play basketball. Christ, Virginia wasn't even a ranked team until a few weeks ago. People need to stop acting like Green Bay beat the same "team" that just won the ACC Tournament. If Green Bay had to play Virginia now, they'd get run off the court. 3/17/2014 5:25:49 PM |

ticket sales, endorsement deals, and merch. breaking the $1million barrier in merch sales is huge.
But also, this is a solid argument against latching on to tradition and nostalgia at all costs. Reynolds was an amazing atmosphere, rivaling that of Cameron, but it was also holding us back. Duke being only two spots ahead of us despite far more success is evidence of that. 3/18/2014 9:31:29 AM |
