OK... how about this:
My neighbor is tired of getting whipped in our cash games, and wants to do a bunch of single table tourneys one night this weekend.
So how about this: Late night Friday, like 10-1030 PM. My place in North Raleigh
$10 to $20 per game. If we get enough folks we'll do 2 tables. Otherwise, single table games, and we'll pay according based on the # of people involved.

why can i not win in a home game (>200) to save my life.
yeah ill call you with bottom pair and nail a flush on the river.
yeah ill call you with bottom pair on a paired board 4 handed and hit the case 5.
what the fuck.
after 5 hours, 3 won hands (2 steals) and a decent bit of cash departed from my pocket, ill stick to online or vegas/ac.
theres really no point.

I've had a horrid streak... again... and sadly it had to be broken by, of all things, my fraternity's poker night. Unfortunately I haven't found an online site that takes $50 Best Buy gift cards for buy-ins 9/1/2005 5:38:04 PM |

I have been playing at a new site, Pacific, and doing fairly well. Amazingly, although I have seen over 500 hands, I have not tripped up on a pocket pair yet. Not on the flop, turn, or river.... very odd. 9/2/2005 11:31:55 AM |

This shit just can't be real.... From 2 different $5 SnGs on pokerrom
I have 10c9c and about 2k in chips on button 4 players see flop to small raise, including me flop QJ3 rainbow... 1st player bets, all call Turn K Bet, raise, All in to me... I think and call. As does everyone else The 1st all in also has 109 the other 2 BOTH have A10 River 8... just for fun
So a bit later I have 2500 in chips in SB, get A9 off No PF raises, 4 people in Flop A25 I check, bet from BB, fold, raise (he was 2 from the button), I call, next guy calls Turn 9 I check, bet from BB, all in from other guy. I call of course (didn't think anyone played 34 - though i was worried about a low set). BB folds He has 8 3 OFFSUIT!! River 4, of course... raises twice with a gutshot and hits
Same table, I have about 500 in chips left Get KQ in BB, and have Mr. 83 puts me all in preflop. So i call (only had 2.5* the blind anyway). He has A9 this time Flop 99K.... shit Turn K.... YES! River.... 9 Another cased card winner, from your friends at pokerroom

^^ i feel the same way i just lost my whole bankroll to suckouts.
Partypoker has a decent PRNG however they use time of day (insecure) and network activity to seed. There HAS to be heavy bias towards flushes and straights, i know im not the only one that sees it. Also if somone has QQ, you better be damned sure somone is gonna have KK or AA or JJ. The amount of pocket pairs preflop amuses me. And I always love allin with a monster hand getting called by some stupid connectors and of course hitting the straight on the river.
If I ever put more $ in it is going to be at paradise poker. At least their card shuffling is superiour.

if you are in a position where a few beats eats your whole br, you are playing way above your head.
you shouldnt even consider sitting down at a nl table unless your br is at least 50x the max buy in.
thats my rule.
also, you SHOULD learn the game by starting out at limit.
the swings are much lower, and your feeble br will go alot further.
or go to pokerstars or somewhere where you can play micro limits in order to build your game. (despite the fact i dont really know how much good that iwll do)
i know a fellow who build his entire bankroll from $10 playing $0.01/0.02 7cs8, and now is properly rolled for 5/10.
now for my story,
i hate going bust at a table the hand following the rake requirements for a reload bonus is complete.
AQ on the button, pot limit holdem.
5 limpers, i bet the pot, bb calls flop comes AQ7, he bets the pot, i call. 7, he checks to me, i bet 1/2 the pot, he calls river is the Q, he bets out large, i go over the top all in....
77
feck.
and there goes the hundred or so i was up over the bonus.
i was way behind the whole way. he played it really oddly however. 9/5/2005 2:26:08 PM |

Depends on how risk averse your players are. Besides even if you call a bet that you have 93% chance to win where you can lose your whole stack that's not the best of bets over time. That's why it helps to have build a bank roll.
^
Shitty players like myself can't even win a 1/2 cash game around here much less higher stakes than that. I'll try it in a few years though 9/8/2005 9:42:48 PM |

happens 18% of the time, thats not that bad.
you made the right move, just know that much.
mark him in your notes as not having the ability to lay down top pair top kicker, and keep exploiting that when you make good hands. most of the 25nl tables lack this ability. (except around these times where party/multi/empire all had reloads (like this past week, those tables can actually become pretty wretched due to the massive number of bonus chasers that propagate the 25 nl/pl. i dont even touch the 25 plo8 tables any time near a reload b/c the vp$ip drops from like 40+ to close to 30 or less, and the game becomes too tight to be profitable, or enjoyable. trying to hone the plo8 game.. limit is still more profitable for me somehow..)
you played it right, but its not that bad of a beat.
i say that despite the fact that you played way too weak on the flop. There is no real point in not betting out with a set on that flop. with your being the initial pfr, a checkraise screams set to me. (id lay down AK) bet it out with abut a75% pot bet, and i gaurentee the guy who ended up all in with the AK would probably riase you on the button, and you could either a, go over the top, or smooth call. you want him to put as much in the pot as possible. your stats on the flop were much more favorable, but he improved greatly after the turn.

well i made myself feel a lot better this morning. i can't remember the cards exactly, but i had 5c8c, and the flop came with 2 clubs. i bet $1, other 2 guys call. i get my flush on the turn, so i bet $2, first guy folds, next guy raises to $4. i'm thinking "shit, he's got a higher flush." river card was a 9s, so i check and the other guy goes all-in for about $19. i really had to think about it, because he'd been playing tight all day, but i eventually called and he just had a 2 pair.

Anyone ever have this happen to them.....
I reluctantly put money into hollywood poker despite its relationship to pokerroom. Figured I'd see if the level of play was any better at the low stakes tables/games. To my surprise it was far far worse. But I figured I'd play til i tripled what i put in or lost my entire roll (50 bucks).
So I go into a $5 multi with 550 people in, and play ultra conservatively, and do really well watching idiots go all in with abosolute crap and lose. I wound up making the final table, and pushing/losing when i had less than 3* the big blind under the gun.
There was a problem with the tourney though i noticed while playing, and talked about with other players as the game went on. It wasn't listing those who busted as cashed, and showed 59 players still in when we were at the final table (top 60 pay). Thus, we never played hand for hand while the tourney progressed and cash levels increased as we normally would. Its worth noting that the lobby chats people were bitching about not getting into games, so I guess a server may have went down?
So when I busted, it said i went out in 58th, winning $13 and not $192.
I called their support line immediately, and they have the hand history (as do I) but have to supposebly go through supervisors and stuff to fix it 'cause they had not seen anything like it before.
But I just want my $ so i can pull it out, as I met my goal of tripling up. Who knew there were actually worse players out there than on pokerroom?
Anyone ever see/hear anything like this? Think I'll actually get the $?
