I agree it doesn't look bad it's just not a color a Ferrari should come in.
It's more of an accord/Camry color 4/24/2013 10:37:43 AM |

McMerc was in the parking lot at work today. I didn't get a pic cause there was a group of people standing next to it talking. I assumed the owner and some coworkers. Didn't recognize the guy, so could have just been a vendor 4/26/2013 6:37:06 PM |

yeah i'm pretty sure its a knock off gt-40 with all the dimensions wrong to fit on a fiero chassis or some BS like that.
also i saw a tesstarossa today... i kinda wanted one when i got the galaxie... and i mean they look great and would probably be a better fiscal investment... but i probably couldn't afford to drive it due to the cost of replacement parts. 5/1/2013 10:55:52 AM |

So, given the choice, if in Vegas would you rather:
1) Rent a 2012 Porsche Cayman R with less than 7k miles for a full day, with 175 miles includes with additional miles being $1 a mile for about $350
2) Rent a 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider with 40k miles for $500, but that only includes 50 miles with each additional costing $3.50 AND you are limited to having it for onlt 4 hours, not a full day.
3) Rent a Lambo Gallardo Spyder for the same terms of the Ferrari.
My heart says rent the Ferrari, but my brain says Porsche. I know at only 4 hours and 50 miles in option 2 and 3, can't afford a full day, which means I can't do much. The Porsche is no slouch, but we could actually drive it out of the city, tool around, and not be in a race to make it back within 4 hours.
The day rental on the ferrari and lambo is $1,200, and it does include 175 miles. 5/1/2013 2:05:50 PM |

worth it...
imho caymen isn't street fast... it's track fast... and it's not gonna get you laid.
430 is pretty awesome on all fronts but that's not going very far so i dunno.
gallardo i would rather drive then the ferrari. 5/1/2013 2:11:47 PM |

if i had no problem burning that amount of money for no good reason, i'd go for the gallardo, and i'd spend the entire 4 hours in it. 5/1/2013 2:17:34 PM |

You can pit those exotic rental places on the strip against each other.
A few years ago we talked that "4 hour" rental into an all day, and upped the mileage to 250 miles for the same price of ~$450ish.
I would go for the Lambo myself (only because we drove a Ferrari last time ). We were debating the exact same thing, Lambo or Ferrari. Ultimately they gave us a much better deal on the Ferrari, and would budge a dollar on the Lambo rental price. 5/2/2013 3:13:38 PM |

Is is obvious that its a rental? Does it have scan codes in every window like hertz does to the corvettes? 5/2/2013 3:49:15 PM |

So, I tried to negotiate a Lamborghini or Ferrari. No dice. When I called and asked the mileage from the various places, they definitely had a good bit of miles. I decided to go ahead with the Porsche Cayman R.
So, holy shit, it is a great car. Drove it over 200 miles, and did manage to at least get it up to 115 on a side road (absolutely no cars or buildings and miles of visibility). The car in regular mode is fun, but not aggressive. But when you turn it to Sports Plus mode, it becomes a new car.
This car was pretty much exactly how I would have ordered it. Silver body, black side view mirrors, black fixed fin, and I think it had 21" glossy black wheels.
Never driven a mid engine, and definitely enjoyed the shit out of it. 5/12/2013 2:11:06 PM |

^^congrats. I've never driven an R but have taken the wheel of many Cayman S's. Absolutely amazing car. Are you sure about those 21" wheels though? I highly doubt they would fit, and I believe 18's are what they come with from the factory. Also they would do nothing but hurt the handling. 5/13/2013 8:49:17 AM |
CarZin patent pending 10527 Posts user info edit post |
I was wrong on the wheels. They were 19". I got a little excited Apparently, the suspension was tuned for 19". Pictures of the wheel I had here:
