No, I'm not employing tu toque. moron invited me to show examples of liberals to parallel his conservative boogeymen.
Quote : | "where are the leftist equivalent of the usual Fox News jokers?" |
So, I provided leftist equivalents of all of his conservative examples:
Quote : | "Beck <-> Maddow (moron: invalid comparison) O'Reilly <-> Olbermann (moron: invalid comparison) Fox <-> MSNBC (moron: invalid comparison) Schmitt/Conservative Authors <-> Alinsky/Liberal Authors (moron: invalid comparison) " |
I made no judgement on either side. And you're going to talk to me about straw men?

So who do you cling to for your, presumably conservative, views?
On a personal level, i pretty much never harken a single ideology to support anything i believe. I simply call things like I see them, and it's pretty obvious that a progressive (in a general, non-political sense) attitude leads to the most logical paths.
^ also, you seem to have an issue with what the word "equivalent" means

Yeah, it was. And it was shown to be a big embarrassment for him and CBS, And Rather had to apologize for it, and is no longer doing any serious reporting.
where as when the reporters on Fox make things up, it's championed as doing the right thing for the cause by the right.

How many times had he played fast and loose with the truth in order to score political points? This was just the first time he got caught. Then you wonder how could anyone possibly have any reason to suspect liberal bias...

Give me a break. Like Dan Rather wasn't trying to manipulate public discourse. Like that was really the first time he'd ever done some shit like that - I mean we're talking outright fabrication of an entire story with deliberately forged documents. As far as I know, Fox has never done that.... Even if he never tried fabcricating a story before, he was unquestionably biased if this kind of stunt seemed "ok" to him. And he's an ANCHOR - you know, like real reporting... not commentary.
And what did your precious "non-liberal" establishment do after he disgraced himself? They gave him a fucking peabody award! Guilt by association bitch... They clearly could not care less about fabrication of a story critical to a conservative.... But a little hyperbole from a COMMENTATOR at 5pm on a cable news channel and holy christ, journalism is being killed!

wow, if that isn't blatant understatement.
Not to mention your facts are entirely wrong:
Quote : | "I mean we're talking outright fabrication of an entire story with deliberately forged documents. As far as I know, Fox has never done that" |
Rather didn't forge the documents himself, he trusted a source without question. Fox has definitely presented forge documents before (Obama's kenyan birth cert).
And it's funny you keep bringing Rather up, who was and is denounced on an ongoing basis for that report. But you still defend Fox News, who continually make intentionally misleading or mis-representative statements.
I'm sure you also remember their over-reporting of the Tea Party protest numbers in DC, while simultaneously ignoring the LARGER crowd of pro-gay rights protesters that happened at the same time. IIRC, they even put a single newscaster in an offsite location to make it seem like few people showed up. Or until Fox started over-reporting opposition to the public option, and big majority of Americans supported it.
If you are so obsessed with the era of Rather, there's the study that showed Fox watchers were most mis informed on Iraq war facts than any other news station.3/14/2010 1:26:03 AM |
