Gene Galin's usual postgame video:

I absolutely love Russell Wilson's interview at the end, the News14 guy compliments him over and over, but he never bites or brags at all and stays grounded, always directs his attention toward the Miami game that is left to play

from PP. had seen some of these comments already, but there are a few gems i hadn't seen yet, particularly about the carolina fans. good stuff.

Quote :
"This was probably posted on another thread, but these quotes from Jamelle Eugene made me laugh my ass off.

I read them in the High Point Enterprise--from 'Hit and Run' by Tom Berry:

"Even with several minutes remaining in Saturday afternoon's game, Kenan Stadium was almost empty except for pockets of cheering N.C. State fans.

Jamelle Eugene noticed.

"I've never seen a stadium clear out so fast, so much," the Wolfpack's junior running back said. "In all my years of football, the most dedicated fans will stay and I guess (North Carolina) only has a few. They have a lot of fronttunners over here in Chapel Hill, man. If you're not winning, I guess you're out the door."

Then...

"He scored with his mouth. Eugene's best lines were bunched together like a scrum near the goal line, but they were priceless.

For instance:

"Chapel Hill, really, where have they come from?" Eugene began. "A lot of people were saying how good they were supposed to be coming into the season. ... They have a lot of good players on their team, but at the same time there are a lot of good players on our team. They were just rolling early and now reality has just hit them. Our offensive line and our defensive line really put a hurting on them. I mean, that just shows you how much heart we've got, and (UNC) quit towards the end of the game. I mean, let's just be honest about it, they knew what was going to happen when we came in here. I mean, they talk a lot. They've been talking to the media all week. Now it's time to talk and they don't want to talk. Our offensive line pounded them into submission. Our defensive line did the same thing and our special teams did their thing. It was a total team effort and we showed you who is the best team in the state. Now we're going on to bigger and better things.""

NC States record could be just as good if not better than UNC's had we scheduled McNee State, Rutgers, UConn and Notre Dame. But we played real team in our out of conference i.e. USC, South Florida, ECU. i hope duke pounds the life out of them next week.

So if we finish 6-6. what are the chances we get a bowl bid, i mean im not quite sure of this, but wont there be like 10 or 11 bowl eligible teams in the acc this year? how many bowl bids go to the Acc. i think we can get one regardless cuz we have a large fan base

(assuming we win against the whorerricanes saturday)

5.** Music City Bowl Nashville

7.** Emerald Bowl San Francisco
8. Humanitarian Bowl Boise, Idaho
9. EagleBank Bowl Washington D.C."

There are 7 teams with 7 wins or more and wake and clemson could potentially get 7. if I'm not mistaken a 6 win team can't be taken over a team with 7 wins or more.

I thought the new rule was you could still jump, but only by one point, so we could jump a 7-5 team, but not an 8-4, if we were to beat Miami.

yeah,, it's pretty recent. apparently it didn't take effect in the pac 10 til this year

Quote :
"30.9.2.1 Exceptions - 12 Game Season. During each year in which an institution is permitted to participate in 12 regular-season football games, an institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be selected for participation in a bowl game if that institution is a member of a conference with which the bowl organization has a contractual affiliation, and there is no other team in that conference qualified for selection per Bylaw 30.9.2. If the conference with which the bowl is affiliated has no other institution that is qualified for selection or a team with a 6-6 record, the bowl may invite a team with a 6-6 regular-season record from another conference with which it does not have an affiliation only if there is no other team with a 7-5 record available in the Division I FBS. Additionally, a bowl game without a conference affiliation may invite any team with a record of six wins and six losses if there is no team with a 7-5 record available in the Division I FBS. During a season in which an institution competes in 13 regular season contests, the institution must establish a record of seven wins, six losses or better to qualify for bowl selection."

and lol. clemson played 2 FCS teams so even at 6-6 they'll need to beat the cocks to be bowl eligble.

7 win teams have to be chosen

if it comes down to 9 teams eligible, we would have to get an at large bid to another bowl non ACC related.

theres a good post on packpride that explains it.

Quote :
"If you scroll back in this topic, you will find the exact rule about 7 win teams over 6 win teams. Here is the important thing to know. If an ACC team wins 7 games, then they must be selected in the bowl pecking order. It doesn't matter where, just as long as they are one of the nine slots.

Here is where this affects NC State. Right now seven teams have 7 wins (GT, FSU, BC, Mary, VT, UNC, Mia). Those 7 are guaranteed to be selected.

IF...and this is the huge IF.....but if Wake and Clemson both win next week, they both get to 7 wins, and suddenly those 9 teams are locked into the nine slots. NCSU and UVA would get shut out of the whole list regardless of if we win. We would then be scrambling to fill an at-large spot somewhere else. Not only that, but in that situation, we would have to wait for every 7-5 team in the country to get filled before we could go anywhere.

NOW...if Wake or Clemson loses, then the whole ball game changes. Let's say for instance that Wake wins, and Clemson loses. Now we have 8 seven win teams, and the only rule is those eight teams have to go somewhere. At this point a 6 win NC State can move up the bowl selection ladder as far as the selection committees want as long as we are within one conference game of who is ahead of us (which we would be because everyone in the league is 5-3 or worse).

So let's say that it gets to the sixth pick (Charlotte) and FSU, VT, GT, UNC, and BC are off the board. Then the committee would be choosing from NCSU (6-6), Mary (7 or 8 wins), Wake (7-5), Mia (7-5). The question is to them: How important is selling tickets? We would sell a ton coming off of a 4 game winning streak and being a short drive. Wake would struggle to travel esp. since they were there last year. Miami doesn't travel to a 6th place bowl, and Maryland travels ok, but would be possibly on a 2 game losing streak......OR if Maryland beats BC next week, Maryland could be off the board, and BC even at 8-4 could keep on dropping.

Bottom line is this: #1 - we have to win.
#2 - we have to hope that their are not nine other ACC teams that have 7 wins and become defined as a "deserving winning team"

As long as those two things happen, I'd be pretty surprised if the Meineke Car Care Bowl passes us up. I guess we'll read more about it this week.

But that is the way I interpret the rules. There is proof that a 6-6 team can be picked over a 7-5 team (see last year, Maryland picked before Georgia Tech) But the big issue is that a 7-5 can't be left out in the cold over a 6-6...that is why we need Vandy or South Carolina next week to help us out."

so just answer these with a yes or no question...because i've read different posts on this. Also, I wouldn't mind a link to the ACC rule on it.

1)A team can be selected over any other team in the conference as long as their CONFERENCE record is with 1 game? This would mean that we could be selected over anyone who is 4-4 regardless of their overall record...which would help us out tremendously.

2) the NATIONAL rule is that regardless of conference record, 7-5 teams must be taken over 6-6 teams for bowls. Does this include teams like clemson that could be 7-5 with 2 wins over 1-AA programs? ....because I'd like to take the USF loss off our record and play the citadel if thats the case.

yea thanks for being a dick to someone asking a question

but point out to be where it says that

the person who you quote (who is some ncaa rules expert i assume, since your post supposedly eliminates the need for more questions) states that clemson will have 7 wins if they win out, which is obvious. the question is, do they have 7 ELIGIBLE wins as far as the rule is concerned?

please take pity on this me and point out where in your post that question is answered

thank you soooo much, oh expert of quoting

The post mentions nothing about how the ncaa handles a case where one of the teams has 2 wins against FCS teams. currently clemson is 6-6 but isn't bowl eligible since they played the citadel and SC State. Anyways, we're all getting ahead of ourselves again. We went through this same "what if" shit last year before we shit the bed against the twerps.

you should be able to remember a few years back when WE had this about two FCS teams..not that it mattered we didnt go to a bowl.

but it does clarify.

Clemson is stated as having 7 wins if they DO win, which means only one of the two FCS wins would count which lines up with the rules where it states that:
Quote :
"The NCAA allows one victory per season over a Division I FCS (formerly I-AA) team to count toward an FBS team's bowl eligibility, so long as the FCS team has supplied financial aid for football averaging out to at least 56.7 full scholarships (90% of the limit of 63 allowed to FCS schools) over the preceding two years. This prevents teams from scheduling multiple games against FCS teams in an effort to pad their win total."

I thought you would remember or deduce that from the original post.

wtf is the deal with teams scheduling 2 fcs teams. It looks like Clemson, GT, and FSU were all pussing out this year.

Quote :
"Clemson is stated as having 7 wins if they DO win, which means only one of the two FCS wins would count which lines up with the rules where it states that:"

Clemson is currently 6-5 with 2 wins over fcs teams. I don't really see them beating the cocks anyways though

^^^so in other words, your post DOESNT answer the question, at least not directly

also, based on your reply, i feel like you are not understanding what we are asking.

obviously, clemson is currently 6-5, and in a normal year, would already be bowl eligible but since they played two 1-aa teams, they need that 7th win. this is clear and everyone in this thread understands it.

the question comes in when comparing a hypothetical 6-6 ncsu team to a hypothetical 7-5 clemson team as far as this 7-5 always over 6-6 rule is concerned. as far as this rule is concerned, is clemson 7-5 and would be above us at 6-6 or is clemson 6-5 and be in the same boat as us at 6-6? that is the fundamental question that we are trying to get answered, and unfortunatley we would prob need some sort of ncaa/acc official to tell us.

It's going to be a different brand of football when we have 85 guys on scholarship that have been evaluated by TOB and his staff, and that includes their abilities on the field and their attitudes off the field. I can't begin to think how many headaches he's had with Amato's guys, not to mention the injuries. Wilson's something-teen:1 TD:INT ratio is staggering, and if we get back just half, not all, the TD drops he's clsoing in on a 20:1 TD:INT....unbelieveable for a guy with 8 games under his belt.

ed-So we need South Carolina to beat Clemson and who else???
