I remember that I personally blew a vuvuzela at a few games in 1994 when the World Cup was in the US. Back then, we called them "cheap fucking loudass plastic horns," but they still made the same noise. I don't recall any uproar and have yet to hear the media mention that they were in use back then here, too.

the only thing that I dislike about the horns is the fact that they drown out the cheering of the fans during important moments of the game

I don think they have any affect on the way the players play or anything like that. And I am so used to them I dont even notice them anymore, but like I said, I would like to hear the crowd react to the game
