What is going to happen when these protests end? Are protesters just going to keep at it until someone gives them something? Or will they get tired and bored eventually?
Then what? I'm genuinely curious at the potential "outcomes" of this event.
" |
1. Until the Federal Reserve and the banking system is removed from power, that is, when Congress who is owned by the Feds decides to pass a bill against the Fed (which will never happen on its own) then the protesters might stop.
2. Until Congress and Government repeals all "exclusions" to the Bill of Rights and restores our basic human rights while being paid by corporations, then the protesters might stop.
If the protestors stop before these changes, then I'm afraid we are going to spiral into a police state. The country will go bankrupt, only 1% will have money. The 1% will be able to afford to keep America's entire police and defense force on whatever budget the rich decide they should make. The police and defense force will be thankful for whatever scraps they are fed and obey their masters.

LONDON (Reuters) - Sub-Saharan African countries that invest in training doctors have ended up losing $2 billion as the expert clinicians leave home to find work in more prosperous developed nations, researchers said on Friday.
A study by Canadian scientists found that South Africa and Zimbabwe suffer the worst economic losses due to doctors emigrating, while Australia, Canada, Britain and the United States benefit the most from recruiting doctors trained abroad." |

I'd love to see that as the unified focus of OWS. Things would certainly be much better without the Fed. You should also add, when lobbying is made illegal.11/24/2011 9:16:38 PM |
GeniuSxBoY Suspended 16786 Posts user info edit post |
Can you explain the full problem with lobbying? Do you know the solution? Can you put a boundary on it in a fair and regulated way without loopholes?
For example: what if I met with you and promised you $100 million per year after you exit office for your loyalty. There'd be no transfer of money or transactions, how could you prove I persuaded/bribed you if it hasn't happened yet?
Is that considered lobbying?
I don't know what is and isn't considered lobbying.

Therein lies the problem. No one does. But when people say things like Israeli lobbyist spent 88 million in DC last year. It looks pretty suspicious.
I think it is normally in the form of "campaign contributions." Doesn't make sense spending money on someone who isn't going to get elected.

It sucks because campaigns need money to promote themselves in the media. How do we expect them to raise money to buy national ads without lobbying?
I mean, right now, there are getting more than enough money for unlimited advertisement, steep lining of their pockets, etc.. but how do we set a limit?
Should the taxpayers make it an even playing field and offer $10 million free money, barring them from fundraising?11/24/2011 9:35:24 PM |

They don't use all, but they definitely use some. All the advertisement or public educational campaigns "paid for by..." are paid for by lobbyists. Or the commercials that Krallum says "I'm Krallum and I approve this message" those are all paid by lobbyists.
We know campaigns need money, but how are they supposed to get money with lobbyist?!
We can't tell them to use their own money because then the super rich will always win against the poor or working class man every time.11/24/2011 10:24:28 PM |

I would suggest limiting a campaign budget to a certain amount of money. Of course that's a naive solution that everyone would just loophole. But at least then you can regulate financial contributions directly to the involved parties. 11/24/2011 10:27:56 PM |

Hmm, how about instead of campaigning, we hold a weekly debate each week for 10 weeks before the election, paid for by the American Tax Payer.
That will even the playing field, elected officials can spend more time doing their elected job instead of stumping.
We will ban all extra curricular, public, and private activities such as commercials, fundraisers, and anything that doesn't have to do with studying law and voting on bills.
Websites will be provided to each candidate.

Jeffersonian Republicans aka Democratic-Republicans
i thought it was common knowledge that there's been like 4 or 5 versions of the Republican Party but just in case anyone thought i was misleading anyone to believe that our current Republican Party has much to do with the quote i gave, i assure you i was not, in fact the Democratic-Republicans later split to become what would later be the Democratic Party while a small offshoot became the later Republican Party
