I'm generally not surprised when divisional foes hate Rivers. They'd hate any franchise QB that routinely beat their team, and they're not necessarily going to be reasonable about it.
I mean look at us with UNC players. I'm just as guilty of it as anyone, but we can always find a reason to hate UNC players. The only UNC player I can think of that even I couldn't find a reason to hate was Reggie Bullock.
Now it does annoy me when our own fans fall into the trap of believing the made up reasons that Rivers is a shit talking, foul mouthed punk. 1/6/2014 10:11:09 AM |

He wears his emotions on his sleeve during games. He's animated and talks a lot (more than other QBs, it seems) during games. That sometimes could come off as cocky or whatever, especially if a person was looking for a reason to not like SD or Rivers. 1/6/2014 11:24:38 AM |

I am just now realizing how damn good of a season the man had. He is Top 5 in the NFL in pretty much every statistical category that is relevant to quarterbacks. He would be even higher if you just counted guys that played every game(takes out McCown and Foles).
Rankings (min 200 pass ATT)
QBR - #4 Yds - #5 TDs - #4 Completion % - #1 AVG Yds/Completion - #5 FirstDown% - #2 1/6/2014 12:16:27 PM |

^^ Chargers are moving in the right direction, but they will be in cap hell for a few years as a result of some horrible contracts AJ Smith handed out. Still, the new leadership has made some good moves. Its similar to the Panthers. 1/12/2014 5:54:02 PM |

^^Rivers' career interception % is lower than Manning's. He had a bad couple of years with Norv asking him to throw it deep all the time behind a terrible line, but for his career he has been very good at protecting the ball. And besides, you gotta take some risks against an offense like that.
Chargers just played way too conservatively. Good luck in Detroit, Kenny Wiz. Take that pussy play-calling with you. 1/12/2014 8:07:57 PM |

I could easily be wrong here, but I thought I heard recently that McCoy did the play calling. Either way, they shouldn't have played like vaginas from the outset...definitely came back to bite them in the ass. Oh...and don't give up a fucking third and 17. ^^after Demariyus he's basically in a 3-way tie for the 2nd option...only thing that put him slightly on the back burner was missing the last couple games with injury
also, would Welker have been anything special in NE and DEN if defensive players could still touch wide receivers after 5 yards with the rule changes 5 years ago?] 1/12/2014 9:28:51 PM |

32,586 career yards
currently #32 all-time. if he stays healthy, and passes for another 4,000-4,500 yards next year, he'll pass some pretty big names: Aikman, Tittle, Young, Simms, Kelly, DeBerg, Hart. He'll be squarely in the top-20 alltime.

This in regards to Welker. I remember Brady would freeze him out of games after he would drop an early pass....Manning/Brady don't forget. And Welker is great...but he can have the dropsies every now and then.1/13/2014 7:33:42 AM |

Playing ultraconservative can work against a team like the Bengals who are prone to self-destructing. It doesn't work against a great offense like the Broncos, and it especially doesn't work when your offensive line and RBs are so banged up that you can't run, and your defense blows.
Pathetic game-planning by McCoy and Whiz. They never had a chance with that strategy.

Sucks that Rivers basically has had to spend his entire career going head to head with Manning and Brady in the playoffs. Outside of the one year that SD had a stud team with LT in his prime and Merriman in his roided up prime, Rivers has always had the inferior team when going up against Brady and Manning. Even in the season that SD was favored, LT bitched out Jay Cutler style.
Oh well, typical NC State disappointment year after year. RW, you are our only hope! 1/13/2014 9:18:57 AM |
