Who the hell is getting excited about rumble? I don't see how talking about new hardware is worthy of ridicule. And problems due to firmware updates? When every single PS3 out there has an issue that gives it a 30-50% chance of completely dieing every time you use it then we can talk about problems. My PS3 has been rock solid for 5 months and counting, all the while Sony has been adding features and improving the interface with every update. Firmware updates are a good thing. Only fanboy/morons like Golovko could spin that otherwise. Have you completely run out of things to troll that you're just making up problems now?

We are discussing this product in this thread because we enjoy it and it gets us excited because its fun for us. Don't see why you would want to shit on us, unless you're a miserable person and it makes you less miserable when you are able to make other people upset. I think its sad.

I haven't heard much about the next Warhawk update coming in December other than what was said earlier. The dropship thing is a rumor, but what is confirmed is a warhawk store. I'm hoping for new maps myself.

The ps3 already plays h264 files. It's a little picky about how they are encoded. But yeah, almost all the h264 out there is in a mkv container, which the ps3 does not play.

If we could only have xvid now.

I think DIVX compatibility pretty much guarantees XVIDs will play as well.

It is highly unlikely, but I could be wrong about this.

Anyone getting Unreal Tournament 2007? I didn't really give it much thought, but its starting to intrigue me a lot. There will probably be a lot of different modes to play, a deep online multiplayer experience, plus the graphics are looking just absolutely sick. I might actually pick this one up. Very curious how the game play is going to turn out.

IGN gave Uncharted a 9.1, so that's good!

However they said the game had somewhat tedious combat where you pop in/out shooting people, and the game was around 8 hours and that's it. Also textures popping in from lack of system memory was sort of irritating. They liked the AI (underrated important element)

I'll be probably renting this one, although i'm excited about playing it once through.

I'm not being mean, I'm just looking at his post history. He's said multiple times the only reason he purchased a PS3 was for UT3, and now that it's not coming out, he has no use for the system. He said Ratchet and Clank was too much of a kids game for him. The only threads he actively posts in are ones about FPS games. There is nothing wrong with that, it just getting a little redundant every time a new PS3 game comes out that isn't an FPS, he says he's not interested in it.

i play fps, sports, action games, stealth, and stuff like guitar hero/rock band...basically everything except kiddie games and rpg.

i buy my sports games for 360 because so far, they have been the better versions.

i am looking forward to:

Haze (12/4/07)
Unreal Tournament III (TBA)
Devil May Cry 4 (TBA)
Killzone 2 (TBA)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (TBA)

3/5 of those are FPS, but like I said, everything that's on both consoles, I usually buy for 360 because I prefer XBL over PSN and I think the friends list and matching making with friends is easier.

I also prefer the 360 controller to the ps3 because I like the thumbsticks better and the controller is heavier. 360 also was the only one with rumble til now but I'm not going to spend $70 for a rumble controller.


I'm no way saying either console is better, I'm just saying I prefer 360 for most of my gaming and purchased a PS3 for exclusives or timed-exclusives and blu-ray.

I received my white Dual Shock 3 today. I wasn't expecting it til next week cuz it was shipping from Cali, but apparently the shipper (japanvideogames.com) used priority mail.

I'm so excited, which I'm sure is bound to piss Golovko off. Sorry, bud.

Anyway, it looks really nice next to my black plain'ol Sixaxis. It is considerably heavier than the reg. controller, which I expected but maybe not this much. THe weight was never an issue for me (some said the 6axis is too light).

I'm charging it right now and will give it a go tonight. Rumble = the future of gaming is here!!!

After he put the PS3 in the mail, Sony called him to let Godshaw know that it had arrived in “good condition” and Sony would go ahead and diagnose the problem. That’s when the trouble began, Godshaw said. He said a technical support representative by the name of “Neil” called him back later that day to let him know that technical support had looked at the console, and determined that it was too dusty to replace. The decision was final. According to Sony’s warranty on the PS3, the console is covered by “material defects in material and workmanship” but the warranty would be void if damaged by “acts of God, misuse, abuse, negligence, accident, wear and tear, unreasonable use or by other causes unrelated to defective materials or craftsmanship.” Dust isn’t mentioned. According to Godshaw, Sony’s technical support said that dust was related to negligence and therefore the console was not covered by the 1-year warranty. “The guy said there was nothing they could do except either mail me my broken PS3 to me, or I would have to pay $150 for an out-of-warranty replacement,” Godshaw said. However, in a recording that Godshaw made that he posted on The Consumerist, a Sony representative said specifically that dust is not a reason why Sony would not replace its console – sending mixed messages about dust. Sony Computer Entertainment was not immediately available for comment. Godshaw said his main issue with Sony’s dust argument is that video game consoles, like DVD players, stereos and other electronic equipment, sit in entertainment centers and tend to collect dust. “I’ve heard stories from my friends and people I’ve spoke to on the Internet that PS3s are dust magnets,” Godshaw said. “I don’t move the console around, it sat there like it’s supposed to.” While the general customer service representatives, who usually don’t have the authority to make warranty replacement decisions, told him that the situation was ridiculous and it should be replaced – the people on the technical side were incredibly rude, Godshaw said. Like many electronic companies policies, customers are not allowed to open the inside of these products because it voids the warranty. Video game companies have been plagued this console generation by defective products. Microsoft set aside $1.5 billion this summer to replace Xbox 360 parts after hundreds of the consoles began to break down because of overheating. According to consumer affairs experts, Sony traditionally has had a good reputation for honoring warranty problems. Representatives at the Better Business Bureau said they had not heard of issues with Sony regarding dust and its warranty. “I was surprised to hear this story actually,” said Carey Greenberg-Berger, an editor with The Consumerist.
