As I've said before, the issue of being able to play new movies is fixed as far as I can tell, and Samsung has offered timely firmware upgrades.

Microsoft announces the HD-DVD emulator software for the Xbox 360 has now been reduced from the previous price of $3,000.00 to the new low low price of free.

I've had 1 xbox replaced (purchased at launch) about 6 months ago and turn around time for that was 1 week. With the new xbox's i'd say the failure rate is an invalid point...but thats for the xbox thread to discuss.
