Feilhaber seems to play better when he comes off the bench. I don't know why, but he just does. It isn't a bad move to keep him on the bench.

Well I'm up to 2023 in my Football Manager game and Jozy Altidore has been a World Player of the Year candidate a few times so...

not even sure why I bother at this point, but here is the call-up for the friendlies in October

good to see that stu holden signed a 3 year extension with bolton, he's getting a ton of playing time. that should help us a lot.

jozy played today, but he hasn't played much this season. i hope it doesn't end up being a setback for him. we need him to play as much as possible.

Midfield is the only area we're strong in if we look ahead to WC2014 (because frankly, that's all that matters now that we're making WCQ easier than before and nobody gives a fuck about the GC except b4c)

Bradley, Holden, Edu are young, getting lots of important minutes for their club teams, and I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them on really big clubs in the future (Rangers is CL but I meant a top 4 team in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe). Our best two players, Dempsey and Donovan, will be 30+ but should probably still be good enough to play roles in 4 years

Defense is old with no real solid prospects at the moment (a couple MLS'ers like Ream and Gonzalez but I'm skeptical until I see them more) and forwards have always been pathetic and maybe Jozy's not who we thought he was and we should remove his crown

I guess Howard will be back in 2014, he'll be 35... age hasn't bothered Friedel but everybody's different

yea and we always have guzan, he's looked solid in his time at villa. i think howard will still be the starter though.

im worried about our d and forwards too though. we had a lot of good chances to score during the world cup, but those forwards cannot finish at all, and things are not looking up for them right now. our d is just too slow and old.

I'm still hoping Chuck D can make his return. That's seemingly our only chance at Striker, and it's starting to look like a long shot.

charlie davies article

^^

I can't comment on Bradley or Cherundolo, but Landon's Spanish is nothing to write home about.

Cherundolo should speak German fluently since he's been there since the stone age.

Bradley speaking Dutch was pretty WTF though. They all speak English and he was only there for two years. Pretty awesome for him to learn it.

EDIT:

Ehh, after watching other interviews I'm a little more impressed with Donovan. He actually speaks pretty well for a guy who never played in Latin America.

I mean, think about how hard it is to understand a lot of the guys playing in EPL who aren't native English speakers and then consider the fact that Landon's never played in a Spanish speaking country before. It's not great Spanish but it's conversational which is impressive. Americans tend to get slammed for not knowing anything but English, so it's nice to see them setting a good example.

not sure why it'd kill the good vibes

he wasn't driving when he had his accident

speed doesn't cause accidents, poor driving does

if he were in germany it wouldn't even be an issue

whatever... driving that fast after you've been in a life threatening crash is stupid, don't know why you waste time trying to argue otherwise. its extremely poor decision making

but apparently Davies wasn't driving, switched with a teammate after they were pulled over to cover for him

if you think driving fast is stupid, that's perfectly reasonable

but whether or not someone has been in a life-threatening crash that's not their fault has nothing to do with how stupid it is

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/soccer/10/09/davies.ap/index.html?eref=sihp

Shaking my head.

Quote :
""That's not possible for me to go 120 mph on the road after an accident and think everything will be fine," Davies said. "If a kid survives such a serious accident and then almost exactly a year later is driving at a reckless speed, it's like, 'This can't be serious.' ... If someone has a second chance like I do, to take advantage of something like that, it's not something I could do. I learned too much from whole experience to let something like that happen.""

Apparently not...

Quote :
"Davies said he was lying down in the passenger seat of the Audi Q7 as they drove.

"Everything seemed fine. I knew he was driving a little fast but didn't know he was driving as fast as he was," Davies said. "Then I saw a blue flash from a police car."

Faty said he "was in a panic and afraid" as they pulled over to wait for the police van to reach them on a motorway in France's Jura region.

"I asked Charlie to take my place," Faty said. "Charlie is an American, in France. I thought it would be easier."

The windows of the SUV were tinted, so police couldn't see the players switching seats.

Davies said he was hesitant at first.

"I was like, 'Jacques, I don't think I can do this.' He was like, 'No, trust me, it'll be easy. If you don't, I'll go to prison and you'll be stranded here,"' Davies said."

1) Surprised he would want to ride with someone going 125 after all he's been through.
2) Why he thought switching seats and taking the rap would be a good idea, even in the moment.

^Get over it, Bradley is going to be our coach for 4 years. If you want to be like that then the soonest you will get to watch a game is about October of 2014. Altidore scored a nice goal to put us up 1-0. Poland is fast and sort of dominating sometimes. Altidore also hit the cross bar from about 12 yards out.

Overall we look ok.

I'm protesting money driving meaningless friendlies so soon after the World Cup. These games are pointless, so fuck the USSF and CONCACAF. The Bradley re-hiring is secondary in my protest to hating USSF.

It also pisses me off every damn friendly we play is in Chicago, NY, LA, and Philadelphia

[Edited on October 9, 2010 at 9:14 PM. Reason : the "fuck concacaf" is for the wcq changes, btw]

Anyway, Jones will be...GOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLLL! Gooch heads it in off a corner kick from the right. 2-1 USA!

...good for the USA and Dempsey is all over the place. He's being a work horse.

that new qualification scheme is bullshit. it just delays the inevitable - usa+mexico+1. the us team does not need to play more qualifying games against the likes of barbados and cuba. our players are europe-based almost exclusively now and this is just a waste of time for those players. to top it off, the only useful matchup - the games versus mexico - are likely scrapped with this plan.

this should be real simple - the three who qualified are automatically in the final hexagonal. the other 32 teams are seeded and have home-and-home tourney style until 3 teams remain.
