Inter Arma played a new song live that is probably one of the best black metal tunes I've heard in a long time. Also, I played with these guys last night http://dreadedarewe.bandcamp.com/ they were fucking killer. If anyone likes atmospheric black metal then check this shit out. It reminds me of Darkthrone in parts.

I will say the production isn't amazing if you're used to listen to like... black metal bands that pitchfork writes about. Gonna hopefully be finishing the Heron split this weekend, or at least my part of recording.

But yeah I mean, I'm quite familiar with traditional black metal bands not having great production (just traditional quality-wise, not saying that the common more lo-fi black metal production doesn't "fit" the style) so that's nothing new to me.

Wait, this band is from Greensboro? I've been here for work for 6 months and I've probably missed them playing several times. I've bet you've ^^ played here too then and I missed it. gd.

They're from greensboro but I'd imagine they mostly play house shows. Which is obviously more fun anyways. I play an organ though so its not important.

Definitely. I used to go to and play tons of house shows. some of my favorite shows were in basements. Of course, I haven't been to one since probably 2005 and I've been out of any local music scene loop for the past 3 years or so.

Now I just feel like I'd be "that guy" who doesn't know anyone and randomly shows up at a house show.

I'm not super familiar with the GSO scene but in raleigh theres random people who show up all the time. I think we're pretty open compared to what I hear about other scenes. When we were doing danger room shows people would show up like 2 hours early that didn't know anyone and just hang with the gang. Some of them were weird tho...

So dis be the black metal band I play the organ in. The two guitarists just moved to WS so we're in recording only mode for a while. We just (well I just) recorded my organ jamz and I had to be the guy who talks up his own music, but I must say the songs are actually pretty good (probably because the guitarists wrote the majority of everything)



We just got cassette tapes of ritual, which I was totally uninterested in until I actually heard it. It seriously sounds raw as fuck on tape. Hopefully at the beginning of next month, I'll be starting a different black metal / dbeat hardcore band with the Heron drummer where I'm on the instrument of glory.
