If Carolina continues to shoot like this no way Duke can come back.. Of course they will beat anyone in the country shooting like that. Marshall appears he is gonna be another in the long line of amazing point guards in recent Carolina history that make them way better than they would be otherwise. I hate Irving got hurt this year would love to see those two going at it in this game.

And for all the conspiracy theorists out there... my Dad's best friend works at Duke in sports medicine and they were chatting about Kyrie Irving. Turns out that he's taken endurance and weight resistance training (testing the amount of pressure he can put on his toe) and passed both tests. His father doesn't want him to play anymore this year and has been vocal about it to the sports medicine department.

I guess that could be inferred from what he's said to the press, but found it a little interesting that he's said that to folks outside of the team / coaching staff. It is looking more and more like he isn't going to push for a comeback this year and will go pro next year.

I suspect we will get a rubber match in the final. On a neutral court I think Duke takes em. That was the first time this year I watched a Carolina game and the fans appeared even halfway interested in the game and you can tell the team fed off that energy big time.

Kyle Singler is the most hyped All-American dud I've ever seen. Has he ever had a big game when it matters? I may be being super biased here but guy has been so talked about and he's so small on the team compared to Nolan Smith and Scheyer in the past....

Singler has choked in some big games, but most of that tonight was great defense IMO.

It is a little strange how good he is statistically though. Top 11 ACC scorer of all time... but he's either the second or third option most games for this Duke team behind Smith and Curry for big buckets.

I think he's a solid player, but his statistical relevance still surprises me...

I agree. never been a huge fan. he did have two solid games in the final four last year but... meh. I know a few UNC fans that were never big Tyler Hansbrough fans and a few Duke fans that were never big Redick fans... count me as a Duke fan that has never been big on Singler. most overrated player of the last 5 years.

The Plumlee's have been a sort of disappointment (and I really thought the good one - blonde - was going to be a stud this year) and of course Ryan Kelly is flat awful.

Zoubek had more post moves than any current duke big (0). Duke bigs get all their points on the break or off rebounds (coincidentally, they had career games against us).

They just have zero desire to play back to the basket. Then again, Henson and Zeller block the shit out of everything. UNC destroyed our post game, so maybe Duke figured they shouldn't even try.

The plumlees need a true point guard to be good. Mason was much better with Irving playing but I guess thats obvious. A guy that can beat his man at any time obviously makes everyone better. Everyone would be talking about how good the Plumlees are if they were catching easy passes for open layups or 6 foot drives for gorilla dunks all game.

Singler is simply the biggest matchup problem in the ACC since probably Shane Battier. He's not as great of a player as he seems, but its rare that teams will have somebody tall enough to guard his shot that can still be quick and agile enough to stay with him. Barnes is one of those guys. When you matchup with Singler and he doesn't get open looks, he ALWAYS forces stuff. He has to force it at this point though because you can't beat a good team without three solid scorers.

Kelly is a complete bust and is being used as a 3pt shooting decoy at this point in an attempt to create driving space for Smith and Singler. Problem is, UNC didn't buy it and helped off of Kelly all night and he went about 1-8 from three. That killed Duke. They might as well have Dawkins/thornton out there. That way at least Singler would have to be matched up with a 4.

Singler will get in foul trouble if they play him at the 4 in the tournament.

^everyone is not dumb. No one would think the plumlees are good because they have a good guard breaking down the defense.

Being able to play back to the basket is the mark of a good big man. That's what they are being judged on. If you draw double teams down low, then you are a good big man. Pretty simple.
