^^^how do you figure this was bad for the celtics? Mostly everything I heard said that doc didnt want to be a part of rebuilding (which they will clearly be doing this year) anyways and no team wants to pay a coach top dollar to not contend. And they got a first round pick out of it for the rebuild. Not only that but this is just the first step in a trade that will get rid of kg (and maybe pierce) for some young players.

Looks like both sides win. Clips get a good coach, some solid players for a contender and the Cs get some solid assets to rebuild with and to shed major salary.

Celtics needs to rebuild again only 5 years later since 08? No wonder why KG hates Ray so much.

face, what are your thoughts on the Heat's potential to 3peat next year, given the health concerns of Wade, the age concerns of Allen, Miller and Battier, and the potential of a healthy Rose, Westbrook and Rondo, among others, next season

I think they'll still be prohibitive favorites, but their window is closing

heat will be fine to 3peat as long as half of the nba teams continue to lose their star players to devastating injuries. we dont even know if the guys coming back will ever be the same again.

I'd say 50/50 for one more title and that's it, you could see the wheels start to come off a bit this post season, wade is one of the worst aging players ever it seems, he's got about one more good yr left and with lebron and wade on the court at the same time, bosh's contributions are going to be limited

I think it would be ideal to trade wade for some good young role players but thats very unlikely as he is the hero in town and with his legs going downhill prob not much value so they'll prob just see how next yr plays out and should be very interesting after that

He who wants to trade Wade must be a woodhead.
Wade is the real soul of this team.

[Edited on June 24, 2013 at 2:54 PM. Reason : Remember LBJ is flying to Miami for Wade, not Wade flying to Ohio for LBJ]

I would say it's very hard. Last 3-peat is back to 11 yrs ago. And it's gained by the top 5 center and top 5 guard in NBA history.

^ I'll concede that Shaq is probably a top-5 center, but you're crazy if you think Derek Fisher is a top-5 guard. Probably not even top-50 when all's said and done

Kobe was aging and awful during that three peat. The lakers won in spite of him. Could have had a dynasty if they resigned eddie jones.

Dikembe clearly was the star. But shaq was just as good.

Kobe was actually pretty good in one of those title runs and pretty bad in one. Cant recall the third off top of head id have to look it up but I think he was above average.

I think miami can win 1-2 more titles with this core but thats it. And definitely no guarantee. If I had to guess id say they win 1 title in next two years and after that they either revamp or stop winning.

Thats a super old team and the spurs and okc should be significantly better next season. Indiana could be better and chicago definitely will especially if they pull off this okafor for deng heist.

I think they are gonna die next season unless they bring CP3 or Howard to the team.
Come on, young man, they are not super old. The big 3 are still under 30. The Bulls of 96-98 are actually super old. But they had a 3-peat.

The effective age of the heat based on minutes was like 31.6 years. Thats really freaking old considering players on average peak between 25-28.

Lbj will be fine. But wade could fall off a cliff or get hurt at any moment. Bosh isnt any good anymore so calling him part of the big 3 is like calling darko milic part of the 2003 loaded nba draft.

Battier, miller, and haslem are all eroding. Chalmers has been flaky. Ray allen had some hot games but hes been inconsistent the last few years. Birdman is a free agent.
I
They have zero cap flexibility, an aging roster, and lack size. My prediction stands. They win one title and lose one in the next two years. Then they either rebuild around LeBron or its over.

LeBron alone makes you a contender but we've seen that fizzle in the past. And there are four teams poised to be really good for the next several years in sas, okc, indy, and chicago.

And several like Houston, denver, gsw, mem, and lac that could be really good with solid acquisitions.

Aren't SAS aging too? Of course they've got a future superstar in Kawhi Leonard, but he will not be a Top 5 NBA player til 2015 atleast... OKC should own the West in the coming years, along with Golden State

well three of the youngest superstars just got hurt and fell off a cliff so injuries just seem random and not due to age.

I wish Wade could have one or two more 100% healthy years. Wade at his peak is one of the funnest things to watch in the NBA.

Jordan hurt himself the 2nd season too but he recovered quickly and later changed to a great jump-shooter.

This sports fanbase has turned into pure idiocy.

I think I preferred the nba when the casual sports fan didn't care.
