P.S. okay, I'm kind of trolling with the "Man U suck" claim. Man U have a lot of class. but my goodness, they're underachieving right now.

If you're trolling, you're not doing it right.

Your requirements for eliteness?( Blimey, we aren't discussing them QBs in the NFL! Use words like 'romance', or 'tradition', or how 'massive'* the club is)

* massive -city loller

I love how you say Bayern, Madrid, and AC Milan have elite status but don't put Liverpool, Inter, Barca, Ajax, United, Juve, and Benfica in there.

Frankly if you are going to include those 3 the others are right up there. You don't go to 3 champions league finals in 4 years and not be elite. You also don't win 3 Champions league and not be elite.

By your argument United have had a great champions league pedigree in the last 6 years and that is why they aren't elite. Except Real Madrid hasn't done anything of note in the champions league in the last 10 years, so why are they still elite? Because they have won a lot in the past? . Same argument applies to AC Milan.

Its your view but if you are going to solely look at the amount of times a team has won it and not take into consideration the runners up medals or the history of the team in the tournament its a pretty skewed argument. Yes United has a long history in the tournament and also paved the way for England into the European competition and suffered for it greatly as well. Yes I realize someone else would have eventually done it but United did it first and took the onus and endured the red tape of the football league.

A team also isn't in decline or on form based on one season. Were Chelsea in decline before lucking their way to a champions league victory? Liverpool were in decline and it hurt them for a few years but they have managed to bounce back. Rodgers has them playing some great football now and they have made some very smart decisions in the transfer window in the last 2 years. What Liverpool did wrong was letting go of the talent they had in Alonso, Torres, and Mascherano. Fair enough, Alonso and Mascherano wanted to leave but their owners didn't shell out the cash to replace them. United have that kind of cash and have already spent a significant amount to secure the next few years. I would not be surprised if Moyes gets 3 to 4 new players in this summer. Liverpool could have bounced back immediately had their previous owners not shackled them.

Its laughable if anyone thinks United's current squad doesn't have the talent to bounce back in the next few years. A defensive revamp and some luck in midfield would go a long way next year alone.

United and England need some inury luck. Cleverley has been way too healthy and he is always inexplicably picked when fit.

seriously, the obsession over "world class" and "elite" and this hasn't happened on on here, but if soccer is a "major" sport in the US - all a ridiculous waste of time to me.

whoooooooooooooooooooooooo caresssssssssssssssssssssss

If Manchester United wins the Champions League, I will not post about soccer on TWW until after the World Cup.

Err, Spurs would be a laughing stock. United are a dream club. The romance of our club never fades. In American parlance, we would be what you call a storied club.

Crap.

The point is, Moyes will get atleast 18 months. He hasn't really obliterated the squad with shitty signings. As wazza( ) said earlier, if Moyes fails, then he is atleast a good placeholder for a better manager to come in. United can afford to have such a shitty season. We have a stomach full of success, and not hungry for it. We can afford to give Moyes time. None of the United fans are in panic mode yet. No reason to be. We can afford to miss on the CL for next season without much of an impact. We've saved the Ronaldo money for a rainy day. Its just drizzling now. We'll be OK.

lol. Its funny that other fans still think they are putting United fans down by trying to rub it in. There is no need, we have accepted our fate. Whats hilarious is that everyone else thinks they are so clever trying to repeat the same old jokes from November. All you are really do is stroking your own ego because for once in your life you can actually say something back to a United fan. United fans aren't really pissed after a loss anymore. Hey, as I have said whatever helps you get past the trauma of United beating your teams for the last 20 years. No ribs, I am not mad. I find your stupidity quite hilarious.

Where do you guys think RVP lands next year? He is a mercenary so I'm betting Chelsea.

Chelsea is going to want a Suarez/Cavani/Falcao type. I don't think RVP is that caliber anymore and he's injury prone.

He'll end up at one of the Milans, especially if Mario comes back to England

RVP is something of an old maid now...his best days are obviously behind him

so "one of the Milans" sounds totally reasonable, since they love old maids and all that

RVP has been disappointing this year. Its incredible the amount of change from last year to this. I actually also think off loading RVP would be a very good decision for United right now. I still think he has at least 2 years left if managed properly but he just doesn't want to be at United anymore. You can tell. Don't think he is also a mercenary. He wants to win trophies, the guy is one of the few World Class players that has only won 1 league. Chelsea could def. use him and he would probably thrive. I certainly think RVP could have won a title and had a good shot at a CL if Sir Alex had decided to stay for 3 more years.

Sir Alex was starting the rebuilding process but for whatever reason he left it half done. Can't blame him though, no one expected United's defense to melt like cheese on a hot day. Confidence is the biggest issue for United. The players mentality just isn't the same with David Moyes. The intensity is gone and Sir Alex got the best out of this team with their intensity and hardwork.

He's a dick.

Arsenal would be six points clear with him instead of Giroud up front. Wish him nothing but the worst.

Give me Liverpool over Jose all day. Definitely the lesser of two evils.

That Spurs even have an outside shot of sneaking in right now is a miracle. We just haven't been playing well.

I wish Eriksen was a permanent fixture in the first team. His creativity and understanding with Ade needs to be exploited every time out.

Gotta say Liverpool have surprised most this year and Brendan Rodgers deserves all the credit for it. Fantastic job by him. I think if pool were to pull off the impossible it would be one of the most unexpected title wins ever. I still think Liverpool lack 1 or 2 players to truly be a title challenger but they have punched above their weight with Suarez and Sturridge playing so well and the team responding to that.

They are playing with a lot of heart and truly enjoying their football, wouldn't put it past them to beat Chelsea and City at home. Still believe Jose Mourinho will win at the end.
