I did the TransVirginia grand depart back in May. 550+ miles from Washington, DC to Damascus, VA. Took about 80 hours. I tied for 2nd place.

Did the Cohutta Cat grand depart this past weekend. 266 miles and over 30k ft of gain in North Georgia and Tennessee. Rode straight through without any sleep and it took me just under 40 hrs, which is 2 hrs faster than I did it last year.

Took my bike on a 200 mile each way road trip few weeks back. The way up was fine and gave me a false sense of security. The way back i kept not putting bike on correctly because it almost fell off 3 times. I guess the third time did the trick and no more issues, but it was nerve-wracking as fuck. One of the times another motorist flagged me down. Only thing I can think of is i left one of the straps too loose which caused all 3 to unhook. Yakima trunk mount i've had for 10 years and never used

It has a 12 speed shimano XT casette and derailleur. The crankset is Cane Creek eeWings with a 30T chainring. It has Vittoria Mezcal tires. 2.35 front and 2.25 rear.

I DNF'd after 200 miles and 32 hours. The Womble and Ouachita trails took way longer than I expected and I didn't have sleep gear and wasn't prepared to spend another night out there. I should have taken sleep gear and slept a few hours the first night. I had sleep gear in that dry bag on the rack, but I ditched it the night before the race because I thought it would be short enough that I could ride straight through. Severely overestimated the pace on those two trails. I should've done more research on them, but I learned a lot. I may try it again.
