Where is the math that came up with $500/month? You are making an incorrect assumption that R&B costs $650/month for this student.

From the article:

Quote :
"Remember, this excludes any money from the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund, the Special Assistance Fund, and any occasional meals provided by boosters. Monthly, football players are looking at $1,420 cash in their pocket without having to buy books or pay tuition and fees. Did you have $1,420 of cash every month in college? If football players were to work a job paying a respectable $10 an hour, they would need to work 36 hours a week for 50 weeks to make $1,420 before taxes to make what they get from their football scholarship and other available money sources.

How much does it cost to live in an apartment in Fayetteville? One of, if not, the nicest apartments on the edge of campus costs $480 per person for a two bedroom apartment. Another nice apartment about a mile from campus costs $350 per person for a two bedroom apartment. If we split the difference at $415 per person, our football players have over $1,000 remaining from their monthly income after paying for rent and remember, they have no bills for tuition, books, or fees. Still think these guys cannot afford a tank of gas, a date, or any other reasonable expenditure for a college student?"

^perhaps. I'll look more closely at numbers later.

But

What did you do for the school? Cause I got more than that for a TA job.

$1000/mo is nothing. They certainly can get more than that if they weren't under an NCAA cartel, and it's certainly not worth the toll they are taking physically.

Credible. but now the discussion should be about next year's expectations? How mediocre can we be next year and still give TOB a pass because we know 013 is going to be a SHITTY season.

Wait, what do we know about '13?

That's like 2 years away. How the fuck would we know how good the team will be in 2 years?

I, for one, am looking forward to the QB competition between Stocker, Summers and Brosius in 2013.

we'll have a lot of seniors starting next year, so '13 will be a very different team. i don't know why it would be shitty. probably not as good but it's certainly too early to tell. as long as we don't have a lot of injuries i'd think they can compete for the Atlantic division at least.. need a receiver to step up, but Mustafa back can't hurt, same secondary a year older, almost the same O-line a year older

Yeah, I was just trolling. Charlotte is unbelievable in December. I'm actually planning a trip down there with my fiance during spring break when its a few months past peak season. Do some nascar tours and bank tasting while we're down there.

like wtf does that even mean? no dude i'm pretty sure it's believable in december. it's there and palpable and you can see it and in fact there was a football game for a school you obviously don't give a shit about since you cancelled your plans for the bowl game because of sub 50 degree temps.

make sure you find some single insignificant point in that paragraph and argue it and dodge the main point that you are a stupid bastard fan and the most retarded poster on this forum

I saw the bowl game and thoroughly enjoyed it in the 75 degree temperature of my home. Why would I take a vacation to go to fucking charlotte where the only thing interesting to do would be freeze my ass off at a game in an nfl stadium? Look at all the good bowls. They are all in destinations that are at least decent.

Yes, because watching the game on TV is just as good as being at the game.

Its better when you value your health more than being there. You see everything better on TV but being there is all about the atmosphere which was great for me as opposed to the hell I would have experienced freezing my ass off and subsequent sniffles the next day.

You tell it E.

No reason to actually GO to the game. TV is better.

Why do we have stadiums again?

Its not just me. Bowls in shitty cities are empty especially when the weather is shitty.

I used to go to every state home game. I think the one against Miami a few years ago was the only one i skipped in like a 7 year period. That was the game where it was 40 and rainy. Thats just not the type of weather for football sorry. Thats why they have domes. I'll enjoy being at the Rose bowl orange bowl but screw outdoor games in the winter. I'm not from the North and can't handle it.

You could give me a clemson game from a few years ago all day and I won't pass out. I could still understand if somebody wouldn't want to go to that type of game.

The entire point of watching football is for pleasure. If the conditions are hell then its sort of defeating the purpose even though you want to feel big and bad and like a devoted fan you are reallyjust foolling yourself.

I disagree, that's awesome football weather. I like seeing players have to grind it out against the elements.

But it just wasn't that cold inside the stadium Tuesday night, nor was it raining. I even took my jacket off when I got to my seat and didn't put it back on until the walk back to the lynx. The worst thing was the wind, easy enough to deal with a scarf and gloves.

I'm really confused because the weather at Charlotte for the Belk Bowl was great. It wasn't really cold or raining. Chilly, yes, but just bring a coat. It was like 45 degrees.

The bowl last year was in the great destination town of Orlando BUT the stadium was in the ghetto and it was the coldest game I have ever been to. I actually did get sick but did I complain? OK, maybe a little. The Belk Bowl was nothing compared to that kind of cold.

Well I was in section 133 which was the half-Louisville side (as in half of the people over there were State fans) and it was on the lower level, and it was not at all cold.

Maybe up top it was bad. But last year the Champs Bowl in Orlando was far colder.
