Lemme rephrase - zealot feels like it got buffed LESS than other heroes.
Kerrigan is the ultimate sniper. Her boomerang does massive damage, has a fairly low CD, is difficult to avoid, has huge range, and doesn't need targeting to hit. Getting it to hit both times is easy if you shoot it at people at the max range. Great for sniping farmers AND great for farming. 3/20/2011 1:40:26 AM |

LZ definitely didn't need a buff I can tell you that. Why would they buff a arguably OP hero? 3/20/2011 1:58:12 AM |

The thing I dont get about Kerrigan, and I want to test to confirm... the boomerang seems to do WAYY more damage then it says it should. It is supposed to do like 90 damage at the first level yet it will do like a third of the opponents hp in one hit. I think something is messed up there. She really is incredibly OP though. 3/20/2011 9:14:51 AM |

That is what apparently causes the extreme FPS loss in late game.
I was playing yesterday as Rory, started off 8-0. Then the game proceeded to go into lag hell and I couldn't do anything.
On a side note - Rory is incredibly OP. Save up for a quick sunflare gun followed by phase cloak. Go invis, drop molotov on opponents head, follow with sunflare gun then stun, they are dead. 3/22/2011 9:15:59 PM |

2 wins this morning, back into masters for 1s and 2s random team. Guess that was easy enough. 3/29/2011 9:45:10 AM |

Can you play the retail version without the disc in? The downloadable version costs about $10 more, but it'd be worth it to me to not keep a disc in the drive if I can skip that. 3/31/2011 10:15:09 PM |

So removing the loss column is pretty much the dumbest thing ever.
I hate not being able to see the full record short of masters. Not sure how Zags and I haven't been moved up to masters yet in 2s, I blame him because he apparently can't get moved up in any league. 4/1/2011 10:59:07 AM |

The loss column motivated me to not lose.
Now it's like "ho hum, I'm only building Zerglings this game".
Speaking of which, people have gotten really uppity about massing Zerglings early in ZvZ as though it isn't really easy to stop if you've got half a brain. 4/1/2011 11:19:41 AM |

For a while I had gotten away from muta ling in ZvP. I was reminded of why I used to love it so much after raping two toss today. Both of them rage quit, one said mean things about me only building two units
To be fair I had like 10 infestors back at my base when I pushed him, so I had really built 3! 4/3/2011 9:28:32 PM |

I despise this push in ZvP, mostly because I always go mass ling early and it fucks me over. But when this push comes midgame with just a few stalkers mixed in I love it because by then I have mass mutas.4/4/2011 8:34:57 AM |

OK, now don't flame me too bad for this since I have inquired about this in the past, but has anyone seen anything yet which would allow you to control the speed of the game while at higher difficulty during the campaign? I haven't touched this game since after I beat the campaign the first time, and I'd really enjoy giving it another go on a higher difficulty but with a slower speed. I just can't play this game quickly.
I did find this, but I've not yet tried it out... I'm a little skeptical of anything which might result in a ban even though I don't play online.

^^I believe the speed and difficulty are essentially linked. The fact that you do it online to get achievements means I wouldn't mess with any type of hack or anything, risk having your account banned even if it is single player. 4/4/2011 12:00:41 PM |

Maybe if you play offline...? Just a thought. 4/4/2011 1:20:08 PM |
dzags18 All American 5694 Posts user info edit post |
^Offline saves can still be used to get achievements when you log on. For the most part what makes the changes in difficulty is the speed. Probably better to just start on a lower difficulty and work your way up. When I first started playing I struggled on some missions on normal, now I can fly through mostly everything on brutal. 4/4/2011 1:39:20 PM |

I guess I'm spoiled by old RTS games. I had many a long night in the computer lab in UT playing Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty. I played so many old RTS games that I developed the mindset that I wouldn't just play for victory - I'd play for outright domination (zero casualties). Doesn't work very well in the Starcraft universe, though! I did it in the first game mainly due to low speeds and lots of saving, and I'm just not used to frantic micromanagement. I still tend to want to play this game like chess. 4/4/2011 3:06:32 PM |
dzags18 All American 5694 Posts user info edit post |
For single player you probably could still do that since the computer tends to play far more linear. What difficulty have you completed on? I would think with some RTS experience you would be fine to handle normal/hard. 4/4/2011 3:31:58 PM |
Axelay All American 6276 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, I walked all over normal. I really only had any trouble at all with the last mission, and even then I couldn't account for the few units which I lost. Hard seemed quite a bit more interesting from a complexity-of-AI standpoint, but the speed is my worst enemy. I can't tell you how many times I tried to get through the mission where you escort the colonists onto the evac ships. I just don't micromanage and react fast enough. 4/4/2011 4:41:41 PM |
dzags18 All American 5694 Posts user info edit post |
Have you considered playing customs against the computer to practice? I belive in those you can set difficulty and speed seperately. That would allow you to practice general macro before trying the campaign on harder. 4/4/2011 4:58:08 PM |

Typically it goes like this:
I FE into +1 lings, if the toss 4 gates I usually win, if he goes stargate I'm fine with multiple queens, if he goes 3 gate expand I'll start massing a big group of lings and push soon as +1 finishes.
Depending on his forcefields I sometimes will outright win right there. If not I'll typically do enough damage to either force a cancel of the nexus or at least cripple him for a while. With good forcefields I'll lose a bunch of lings but usually still at least do some damage.
At this point I'll usually grab a third and start teching to mutas. If I've done a decent amount of damage the toss will usually build way too many sentries/zealots and go for a two base gateway push. Depending on the timing I'll either win or lose right here - if the push comes really quick it will sometimes catch me off guard before mutas and I'll be toast. Typically I can get the mutas out in time though and as long as I have more mutas then stalkers I'm fine. And at the time of this push I'll usually have 10-15 mutas with more on the way due to all the gas I've stockpiled. At this point if he doesnt GG out I'll harass and xpo while massing ling/muta/infestor until he goes for a desperation push and loses.
You'd be surprised how often the game goes just like that. 4/4/2011 5:45:57 PM |

So on this map:
titans78 and I often will do a strat where I'll build a hatchery right at the top of the ramp and surround it with evo chambers/queens/spine crawlers while he fast techs to mutas. We were playing a ZvZ and went with that strat this morning. The other guys go for a big bling bust with roaches which does some damage, but not a ton. titans78 does some good muta harass while I mass slings and we push into the other main and knock out one of the guys... then titans78 disconnects. At this point the guy remaining just starts massing banelings and sporecrawlers, so I can't really do much yet. As I have both my econ and titans78's I'm in good shape so I take two more bases while massing muta/sling. The other guy finally pushes out with like 30 blings which I kill easily with a big flock of mutas...
And my power goes off.
So after the power comes back on we start another game, ZZvsZP, our favorite matchup. We start with our normal sling build...
And my power goes off.
Fuck storms. 4/5/2011 10:11:58 AM |

We would have won both those games, instead end up losing like 40 points, which takes us like 8 wins to get back because we never play anymore equal/favored and have no bonus pool. Sucks. 4/5/2011 11:41:16 AM |
