You can take flonase and claritin or zyrtec. Nothing with a D. Also, rinse your sinuses with saline and rinse your hair out before bed. I'm glad you are feeling well. I didn't start to feel bad until week 25 or 26 but that was around the time I started going into preterm labor. Then being put on bedrest you just feel miserable because you can't do shit for yourself.

My dr said noooooo Flonase and I know that's the only thing that will help. Allegra and Benadryl haven't touched it. A saline spray doesn't do jack and I've showered every night and if I'm outside too long I shower right when I come in. I'm about ready to give in and take Flonase but I'm just following drs orders lol :/

I'm hoping I can continue to enjoy it. I honestly thought I would be so miserable the entire time and have been pleasantly surprised. So far, so good! Bed rest will piss me off, I already hate having to rely on my husband for cleaning the damn bathroom.

I took flonase during the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Doctor's orders because I got sinus infections constantly the first trimester. The studies showed an elevated risk of cleft palates in bunnies but sometimes the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus. My doc would rather have me take flonase and the risk that comes with it than prescribe me antibiotics constantly. I find it so funny how so many things differ from OB to OB. We had friends due this March as well and we got lots of conflicting information.

Before all the out of the ordinary stuff happened with me allergies were my biggest complaint too.

Yeah we go for our 20wk appt in two weeks so I'll probably revisit the Flonase because I'm borderline sinusitis and have been for the last month. Hopefully allergy season will end soon, I'm only bad during the spring. I told my family I will never be pregnant during active allergy season ever again. We will see if that works out lol

Also, the internet just told me Rhinocort doesn't have steroids so I could potentially take that! Oh snap!

My ob won't perscribe me a nasal spray. My gp just gave me more antibiotics but I'm not taking that shit. I'm pissed, Rhinocort is a class fucking b and they won't give it to me. The OTC nasal sprays are addictive and you build a resistance to them. And my husband is freaking out because I took Flonase three times and now he thinks I fucked the baby up.

So I'll just deal even though I can't sleep, can't talk, can't work, can't do shit. Hopefully they're just spring allergies and not full term allergies. Shew

Nasacort is now OTC and is a steroid (like Nasonex & Flonase are), not a vasoconstrictor like Afrin. It's a category C med, and so are Flonase & Nasonex.

Wtf then. She told me I could take nasocort but for no more than a week. And also said I could take sudafed or mucin ex which I know are class c, too. I don't get why she won't give me a damn prescription. I mean, I have Flonase at the house I just wanted Rhinocort because it's a b but at this point I'm just going to take the Flonase and hope it doesn't cause a cleft palate, which I think the baby is too far along now for thAt to occur anyways? I took flonase daily from September until his birthday. Let hubby know our baby had all body parts and nothing cleft. So while there is an increased chance of cleft palate there is also a good chance nothing will happen. Class C means they haven't tested it on humans so dont take it just in case, right? Also one round of abx won't make the baby resistance. Better that than letting the infection spread.


Also, if you don't like what your doctor is saying or doing get another doctor. Like I said so much is about what your doctor feels comfortable doing.

This would be round 2 of antibiotics in a little over a month. She said she's only giving it to me because I've been feeling this way for so long. Helllooooo allergies. She even said it was allergies. I tried to explain the Flonase debate but he said there's obviously some reason no dr will give it to me, sigh. I just don't see how a nasal spray is more harmful than taking sudafed or mucin ex for temporary relief. I don't want to take a cocktail of drugs if I could limit it to one that will successfully take care of it over the long term, you know?

I'm happy for you! Week 25 is when I started having contractions. I was assured they were just Braxton Hicks over the phone but four weeks later they were frantically trying to stop them because I was dialating. If you are concerned about anything don't let them brush you off.

I could actually feel my abdomen tightening with mine, like from the outside as well. Basically the lower abdomen would tighten up slowly and hold for a few seconds and then relax.

So Im changing jobs this month and need help deciding what insurance plan to go with. My wife is 12 weeks pregnant with our first child and we currently have a HDHP plan with HSA. The company I will be working for has a PPO and an HDHP. Here are the details on both:

PPO:
Premium - $297/month
Deductible - $1000
Out of Pocket Max - $4500
Co-insurance after deductible - 90% covered
ER - $100 no deductible

HDHP:
Premium - $261/month
Deductible - $5000
Out of Pocket Max - $6000
Co-insurance after deductible - 100% covered
ER - $150 after deductible

For those who have had children which one makes the most sense? Im leaning towards the PPO because of the minor difference in premiums and the 90% coverage. Assuming pregnancy costs are $15K including delivery we would come out better on the PPO side due to the 90% coverage and lower deductible. However I am missing out on the HSA - both the tax benefit and the seed money the company provides ($600).

Thoughts?

Second question: should I maintain the plan you recommend for the next few years? I expect infants will require more medical care but Im not really sure how much to estimate.

Someone in this thread a long time ago in too many pages back mentioned they got a breast pump for free through their insurance. Who was it? Can you tell me how you found out and what the process was like? Did they give you a list of pumps they'd cover for free? Etc. please to provide your experience.

Oh and if anyone wants to chip in on recommendations of a good pump, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Kiwi. I did. You typically have to order through insurance approved medical supply stores. We have UHC and husband called to find out what approved places were. I ordered from Byrum and placed my order in January. UHC won't allow it to be shipped until 5 days before the due date or after the baby has been born. He was born early so we called that day and it shipped out that afternoon. We had it within a week and rented a hospital grade machine the first 2 weeks to help my milk come in. Mine was covered completely.

Kiwi, I used a company called aeroflow to get mine free. They are a medical supply company. Something with the new obamacare made it so that everyone can get a basic one for free. On that company's website, it had a place to fill in insurance information and choose which type I wanted. I chose medela. The breastfeeding consultant at my hospital highly recommended it.
