I've had this problem before when you're on the other side of the map, fast travel somewhere closer first then you'll be able to see it.

You can actually rotate the map to be able to see it, but I don't know how on 360.

Riften is really close but I still can't see it. Just found Lost Prospect Mine, and now I'm good. (Still sucks I can't get straight there)

Apparently the dragonborn DLC came out for PS3 yesterday. They said the previous two DLC's will also be released for PS3 soon at discounted prices.

Might have to dust this game off again.

Let's discuss this Legendary stuff.

Quote :
"Update 1.9 introduces a new Legendary difficulty for players looking to challenge their high-level characters. The patch also expands the skill system by allowing any maxed out skill to roll back to level 15. This effectively removes the overall level cap as players can keep earning experience points without end.

If I get this, should I play through it first then get the DLC, or get everything upfront and play it fully loaded?

Get it all at once.

Half my time playing it was on a SD. It was a 360, but I can't see how that would matter.

Finally getting this for the first time. Got the legendary version (all DLC) for the 360 over Christmas.

Yes I'm old, who cares.

I've found myself having a more of an archery/sneaking playstyle than beefy one handed + magic...is that sustainable throughout the game?

I don't really know where I'll find better bows, and haven't even really figured out enchanting or smithing yet. I'd rather not look up everything online because I'm sure it's just a ton of min-maxing guides and exploits to boost everything as quick as possible.

Anyway, seems pretty fun so far, only about level 14 and haven't gotten too far away from the beginning area. Not even sure how to fill soul gems or get more gems for shouts, but hopefully I'll get there.

started this around christmas for the first time myself. You fill soul gems by casting a particular spell or using a weapon with a particular boost and killing living beings. Other than that, i'm as lost as you are, lol.

Archery sneak is extremely effective, but you'll probably want to put some skill into one handed because archery can be very effective for a first strike or two, but you do have to have some hand to hand, I like dual wielding. Destruction isn't really worth it unless you want to spend a lot of time and skill points working on it. I didn't like exploiting things either, but you kind of need to exploit smithing a bit to get the point where you can upgrade magical items.

Almost all of my experience comes from playing modded skyrim on PC where things have been tweaked to my liking. But I will give what tips I can remember from the standard game. As has been mentioned, destruction is weak. The spells don't scale at all with level. And destruction spellsword is especially weak, since you're basically splitting your damage to two damage sources instead of making one powerful.

All the crafting skills (smithing, alchemy, enchanting) are very powerful but they are time consuming and can detract from the enjoyment of the game. I played hundreds of hours in this game and the character I played that never touched a crafting material might have been the most fun.

What do you like? You want stuff to make the game easier to play? Or stuff that makes things more realistic and "immersive"

I've used hundreds of mods in skyrim but some of my favorite wouldn't interest most people because they actually make the game more tedious.

If you played and liked Hardcore mode in New Vegas some of these might appeal to you. They make the game a little more of a hassle though so if you want to just pick up and play they wouldn't be for you.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11163/? Frostfall - Snow and cold give you hypothermia, building campfires and wearing warm clothing helps you stay alive.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26228/? Realistic Needs and Diseases - You require food, water, and sleep to survive.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33201/? Hunterborn - more realistic hunting and skinning, gain skill by hunting.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68425/? Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim - Basically a total overhaul of the leveling, skills, and perk system. I actually prefer Perkus Maximus for this but it's a HUGE hassle to install that mod and make it work with other mods.

I'd also just look over the files of the month category and the top files category, almost everything in there will be good.

Nah not too terribly interested in making the game more immersive... I'm happy chugging along without having to worry about food and temperature. Thanks for pointing me towards the mods of month/year. I've downloaded some of the highest rated of all time according to steam workshop. I'm a little upset regarding the reward for tracking down all 24 stones.

Remaster announced

https://youtu.be/pF2Qw9BI6Rg?t=3m7s

$60 on consoles

Free update on Steam for people who own legendary edition or the game and all DLC (otherwise I assume $60, so if you see legendary edition on sale for $20 or so during the steam summer sale it might be worth buying).

Mods on console

Ugh, way too early for a remastered version of this game. I guess being free for PC if you own all the content is a good deal, though.

How about a remastered version of Morrowind?

It was very good, I played the hell out it, still think most of the story/quest lines pale in comparison to earlier entries. I’ve probably said it somewhere earlier in this years old 47 page thread, but a lot of the story lines were so much more epic in Oblivion. Thieves guild in particular stands out in my mind. In Oblivion thieves guild story line eventually led to an epic quest to steal an elder scroll. In Skyrim i think I was head of the mages guild at like level 3. I hope the next one can blend the new great mechanics with the old epic quests.
