You peeps don't know how to talk to 17 year-olds today.

I think it shows good passion for NC State.

All you gloom and doomers can't wait for the next bad thing to complain about.

Pretty sure Lacey is gone, if he would have said he was coming back it would have been fairly significant news and we'd have seen it announced somewhere.

Ingram will pick Duke today and that will suck. Hopefully we can convince the big Greek to come play here, last I heard we were top 2 but he still might just play pro ball.

I think we add one post-grad transfer guard and then just go all-in on 2016 recruiting. Dennis Smith Jr. and Bam Bam are major priorities, they already play together so if we could convince them to be a package deal, would be huge for us.

Pretty sure Dennis Smith Jr. would be our biggest recruit since...Hodge? Think DSJr is the #1 PG in the class(he was rated higher than Thornton who reclassified to this year and is #1 this year). We're talking best PG we've had a shot at since John Wall.

I wonder if we finish in the top three or four choices for Ingram? Location would be the thing keeping us so high up the list if so.

Got a commitment from Shaun Kirk (3*). Sounds like a backup plan to Ingram that won't do much next year, but can be around for 4 years.

Next year we really need Abu, Cat & Anya to make huge strides in their development to make up for Lacey leaving. Hopefully one, or both of the Martins can be decent to take the other guard spot next to Henderson.

Shaun Kirk commits. Kind of a stronger, but less skilled Ingram (not that he doesn't have skills...just that Ingram is very skilled).

Points to ponder:

- Does he beef up so he can play the 4 (as a skilled PF), or do we keep him on the wing at the three with one of the Martin twins?

- How much does this help with Bam Bam and Dennis Smith? They play on the same AAU team.

Solid pick-up and we need bodies. Kind of raw, but he can knock down the open jumper and has good handles for a 6'7" dude. Also pretty athletic...not quick Martin freakish...but in that same mold. We don't really need a BIG big man...but I imagine he can put some minutes in at the four. We still need a back-up PG, IMO.

^Wondered that as well. I would identify both Martins as 3s more than 2/4. I'm guessing Caleb plays mostly at 2 spot now and Henderson spells Cat at point for brief spurts.

I'm not really seeing any other negatives on taking this kid on. Freeman was a late 3* pickup and has turned into a quality contributor.

supposedly, Gott watched him play on Saturday and liked the improvement he saw in his game so they offered him on Saturday.

Looks like an athletic 6'6-6'7 guy. If he helps with Dennis Smith Jr., all the better.

Glad to see we got another player for depth. Wonder if this means we aren't getting Nick Papageorgio? What is the latest on the guard from Asheville. We could use some guard depth since we currently have two on the team.

^Papagiannis is gonna be one to watch over the next few months.

As for the Asheville guard, hes setting up visits. Hes a transfer though, not a 5th year guy, so he would sit out 2015 to play 2016.

The new commit reminds me of a slower Julius Hodge. If that makes sense.

The best thing about him is the friends he brings/shows around and the family members preferences for the future.

Yeah...we need a guard. This guy is for depth and possibly to develop in the years to come.

A guard commit of this type wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Maybe a bit higher rated.

^^^

I must have missed the part where Hodge was a speed demon.

Regardless of whether this guy fills a big need...he fills a body. We had 7 scholarship players coming in next year. We really only need a guard to give us some back-up minutes at the point guard. We don't even really need a big man...because we have three guys who can give huge minutes and Martin to fill in at the four when we go small. We lost a big man last year because he didn't get enough minutes. Washington had games where he didn't even get off the bench.

So after the we pick up some transfer guard (hopefully)...we just need bodies. This guy is a body with potential to be a really solid 4-year player down the road if he puts the work in. Now he's also friends with stud recruits that we want for next year...so that's just icing on the cake.

^Lacey filled out NBA paperwork and the school released an official statement about him going pro yesterday. He is completely gone and can no longer play at NC State.

I'm not sure why people are down-playing us landing Shaun Kirk.

1. He's teammates and friends with both Dennis Smith Jr. and Bam Bam. As long as he enjoys himself at State and likes the team, should only help in recruiting those 2 guys.

2. This gives us 8 scholarship guys, was going to be pretty hard to have good practices with only 7 guys.

3. He's really athletic. If we can work with him and develop him, which we should be able to since he won't be starting early, he could really be a nice option at the 3/4.

4. The guy had a decent offer list: Kentucky(reported to have offered after missing on Ingram), VCU, Cal, Auburn, Wake.

5. SOMEONE ACTUALLY WANTS TO BE HERE AGAIN!

Hard to say right now, apparently only posted an hour or so ago. He only re-classified last week, so teams were probably late in evaluating him.

Also interesting that teams like UNC and Duke were keeping tabs on Kirk because of his ties to DSJr. He was rated a 4* player in the 2016 class at PF, but when he reclassified he went down to the highest rating a 3* can get(guessing more depth at PF in this class or maybe they were projecting him to improve next season).

The only reason I would think it would be even possibly for UK to offer him is because they've been striking out a lot recently. How many players do they have on scholarship right now? I know they missed on Ingram and Newman.

They need bodies much worse than we do. Who is even available in the '15 class right now? Although I'm sure they can easily get the top post-grad transfers. Should be interesting to see how they fill out their roster.
