i think i read somewhere that NK didn't pay for the broadcast rights of this tournament. so i wonder if people in NK will even see the game? or will Kim-Jong Ill just tell everyone, "hey, we won the world cup."

ESPN has added the color of the team's kit to the name at the top left.
^There was an article shortly after the draw saying how heavily censored the WC will be for NK. Only pro-NK highlights will be shown and it was believed that the score would only be reported if NK won and in the likelihood that they lost the score would not be reported and it would be as if they were playing a scrimmage.

the world rankings suck and Portugal is not #3 in the world in my book. It is hard to rank teams at this level though who aren't always playing their A squad and such in all games vs other national teams. I tend to like the world football elo ratings better (even though they certainly aren't perfect either, they seem to be a little more grounded). Portugal is 11 there.

portugal is not that good, no way they're really number 3. the game they played today showed exactly why they barely qualified for the world cup.

My prediction was 3-0 (just knowing that Korea is going to pack defense in) but I don't even know if we'll see 3 goals now after seeing the 1st half. However, Brazil is fully capable of turning it on in the 2nd half. Remember the 3 2nd half goals against the US in the Confederations Cup. I still stay they score 2 goals in the 2nd half. We'll see though.
North Korea is looking better than I expected, but Brazil is also looking a little unorganized out there which helps that some.

Quote : | "In all, North Korea look a better side than they have been made out to be, and the defensive nature of their game and constant harrying in numbers will certainly make them difficult to break down. They are, of course, in the toughest group in the competition – up against Brazil, Portugal and the Ivory Coast – and will be expected to leave without a point.
But with Brazil playing mainly on the counter-attack, and Portugal and Ivory Coast playing systems that rely on pace, North Korea’s ultra-defensive style could frustrate teams early on in games – you can imagine one of their opponents struggling to break them down early on, and going in 0-0 at half-time – whether North Korea will be able to defend resolutely for 90 minutes against a top-quality side is doubtful, however." |
