Eh, rumors this has been kind of a "done deal" since June along with Bam. Perhaps Gott flew to setup their announce timeframe so he could leverage them to recruit other guys. Gott was already visiting a 5* Center in Florida yesterday and a 5* SG that we're recruiting is moving to Word of God for his senior season.

Already an amazing class with DSJr and potentially Bam, but the potential is there for an even bigger class. Hopefully Bam commits soon to help with recruiting.

Considering the fact that he's been a heavy lean for months, tore his ACL, and just wants to get shit over with...not having a press conference is not a big deal.

I still think it's surprising in the modern recruiting era though to not have one. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a "big deal" but I do think it's pretty cool he just matter-of-factly did it.

It sounded like he was planning on committing soon anyway, but the helicopter visit made him go ahead and pull the trigger. The timeframe could have easily been set up between everyone on that visit to try and create some recruiting buzz around the program.

I personally think the ACL injury sped things up. He was probably looking to have fun on official visits and milk the process...but the injury has got him in, "fuck this, lets get it over with and get healed" mentality.

But the center in Florida (Udoka Azubike) is supossedly a strong FSU lean. Doesn't mean we can't get him but they've got a strong class too. The 5* SG is Rawle Alkins but we haven't actually offered him yet - I think we have a better shot with him. He doesn't have offers from Duke or UNC but does have one from Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova, and Wake. 247 has him as a UK or Nova lean.

^^ I can't imagine we haven't offered Rawle...same goes for UNC. That kid is a beast, and he'd be a take for both of us. He is at WOG right now, and their coaches hate UNC and Roy (Clifton kid that went to Clemson). So UNC is a non-factor. I would think we would be too...but apparently he's a big fan of Smith and Bam...so we'll see.

Seriously...a class of Smith, Bam, and Alkins would be fucking disgusting...no matter who else you add to it (I imagine another big...maybe a backup PG). I the Martin twins are still around, Rowan, Dorn, Henderson, Freeman, Anya, Abu...that team would be absolutely loaded. With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if several of those guys either transferred or left early for the league. But we don't need them all.

I am trying not to get my hopes up because we all know what happens when you do that but things are looking up right now. I hated to hear when he tore his ACL gotta think that is gonna affect him some in the future. Now just gotta hope those cheating assholes next door don't find a way to luck into a title this year and then the NCAA actually does something about all the cheating and we should be good.

Probably will have quite the fanfare for a group signing day with DSjr, Bam Hopefully and a few more. Hopefully not at Sammy's like CJL, Harrow, TJW.
