Well, if he's really interested in coming back to coaching at some point, then you know he's thought about what went wrong at UCLA. He's probably talked to coaches, learned from them, and thought about what he would do next time so he didnt screw it up. So yeah, if he's interested in coaching again, I'd guess that he's learned from his mistakes at UCLA.



If he's only listening to us for money, then he's a pantywaste anyway and I hope he lights his hair on fire.

i dont know too much about lavin....but im pretty sure evev if you get a team the year after a national championship, that you still have to be a pretty good coach to get them to the elite 8...i mean the players themselves cant do it, and its not automatic that they win again

I've always heard Lorenzo Romar was the main recruiter on that UCLA bench (and I'd say he's done better as a coach then Lavin...taking a crappy Washington team to the top of the Pac-10...and he's recruiting like crazy up there too).

I just want a damn coach, so I wouldnt be too disappointed with Beilein, but I'm telling you...we dont want this guy.

He might get by in a few years, but we do NOT have the shooters to play his style of offense. I dont even care if we lost a bunch of games next year, as long as we go balls out and let our athletes run the floor, I'll be satisfied. I'll give the coach a couple of years to fix it as long as people arent bitching like they did with Sendek's offense.....which is guaranteed to happen with Beilein.

I mean how bad can it be? Here's the thing....


State doesnt have random ass fans coming to games. Everyone that comes to State games has some association with the school. Most older fans that come in the first place know who Whitt is. Getting this guy is not going to kill our attendance, and if anything, I think people will be intrigued for the first year or two and come to the games if for no other reason than to see what he can do. If he can come in here and actually do something in his first year or two, he'll have no problem building recruiting networks and landing the players we need. Half of the players come here because the crowds are so good in the first place, and if Whitt can win stay solid in his first two years, the crowds are going to be insane....and it sounds like he's not going to put up with players half assing it either.


I'm beyond the point of caring if we get a big name coach. Just get someone that will be good for the NC State basketball program whether they're big or not. If they're good, we'll be back on top in a couple of years anyway.


All a big name mediocre coach is going to do is get us some media attention so that when we start losing we do it on a national stage. Let a guy like Marshall or Whitt work without the national media on their ass and see what they can do.
