Looks like the Devils local network picked up the game on short notice after VS dropped it. Wish we could have done the same...

Also, my thoughts on what we're going to do tomorrow: http://faceoffcircle.net/2008/02/25/carolina-trade-deadline-preview/

Peca?? Wouldn't that be about as good as getting Anson Carter last year?

Ehh I think that's a little unfair. Dancin' Anson was always a guy who reaped the benefits of his linemates (most recently the Sedin twins). Peca is still putting up decent offensive numbers, but more importantly, he is a great defensive forward (has won the Selke twice), and is always a dominant force in the faceoff circle. Basically, he is the closest you are going to get at attempting to replace Brind'Amour. At 33 he isn't out of gas yet, and showed that he can make it through the playoffs with Edmonton in 06. He really shut some guys down in that series against us. He has never won a Cup either. I'm pretty much against making any major deals tomorrow, but if Columbus will ship us Peca for say a 6th round pick, I would accept that without a moments hesitation and then call it a day.

^Could not agree more, maybe a 4th round. I agree though, we don't want to give up to much.

the video goal judge doesn't really do much though since it's a conversation with some dude in toronto that settles it.

also, fuck Eaves not being in the goddamned lineup! And where's Crunchy??

the only thing redeeming about him is that it's hilarious to watch him call penalties or signal a goal

At least before the mandatory helmet rule there was always the hope that his stupidity could lead to an "accident."

Tuomo Ruutu may go to Carolina according to TSN. That would be stupid IMO.

An often injured forward who is somewhat talented but has a contract that is too big for us next year and would not fit into our lineup next year.

^ding ding ding. He's roughly the same size and style as Eaves with, in my mind, less potential.

I was mistaken. Ruutu's contract is up at the end of this season, so I'm all for bringing him in if he can be had for a small price. I don't want to see him on this team next year, though, unless he earns a spot with great play.

SOUTHEAST DIVISION RACE JUST HEATED UP. Huet to Washington

TRIPLE EDIT: Tuomo Ruutu is a Cane according to Sportsnet. Waiting to hear what is going the other way.

Apparently he is on the ice with Chicago right now. I bet he makes it here by game time. He has been on fire lately with no goals and 8 assists in his last 37 games.

We can't even really afford Ruutu. I mean fuck I'd rather you just sign Stillman back in the offseason. I am confused and upset. Maybe Ruutu will come in here and go off; if healthy he could certainly fit WONDERFULLY into our system. But the guy can't stay healthy.

why trade Ladd as he is just now getting the ice time to succeed with us?

we waited for 3 goddamn years for him to be productive, and don't deal him earlier in the season when we were looking for another d-man, and we trade him for Ruutu?

at least it wasn't Jarko Ruutu. I saw the headline first and almost died.

But this is equally shitty.

God I hope Patrick Eaves steps up.

So next year, if this guy sticks around, he'll be on the wing? Great, just what we need.

Well...maybe JR knows what he's doing?

I'll miss you Laddie

it is a horrible trade in my opinion bc ruutu is garbage, and you are trading away a young player that the fans like that has been stepping his game up. ruutu's contract is the biggest mistake of the deal, forget about both players' talents

I think JR thinks he has some godly talent to pick players who are about succeed. Stillman (he did have good years but no one would sign him after the lockout cause they thought he would suck), Cullen, Samsonov. But he also failed with Hamilton and he's taking a risk on another player for which he traded one who was doing well.

Dear Canes fans,

From all of us in Chicago to you, please enjoy the hard misses that Ruutu will bring to your team. The guy can slam into the boards harder than a squirt that hasn't figured out how to stop yet. He adds major depth to your IR and is always a presence in the trainers room.

Hopefully this Ladd character will fit in with our other two kids, he can score right?

Thanks again and enjoy!

Chicago Blackhawk fans

just to be clear, this is the definition of PISSED, as laid down by myself and Sweden:

This: is often the result of being PISSED.

usage in a sentence:
Scott Walker has been known to go on many a PISSED-fest during his days in Raleigh
