why is it hard? it seems like you got that team's number if you beat them 4 straight times.

I can think of well more than 3 MNF games that were on ESPN that would be much more interesting to fans of neither team, playoffs or not.

I'm curious which games are 1 and 2.

11.5 point dogs right now

Safe to say no one in the entire world outside of Panther fans gives us any chance.

Wow. It was 10.5 when I saw it last night. Given how close we've played them I'd think it would move the other way, unless different people have different lines

It's 11.5 on Cris

I'd expect it to settle in the 10.5-11 range, but we'll remain DD dogs.

Does anyone think a rainy game increases the Panthers chance at winning? Hopefully it would make it more of a run game and the Panthers D-line would step up against Lynch.

^^ Weird to say, but I think we hold Lynch to a average to below average game. Our DT's and Luke are built to go toe to toe with that kind of back.

It's Russell escaping the pocket I'm worried about. Those two or three plays where we blitz and he wiggles out of it could be back breakers.

On paper we match up well with Seattle.

Their strength is running the ball, we can stop the run.
Our secondary is a bit weak but they don't have a great WR core.

Our problem is going to be on offense. Cam plays like he did against the Cards and we're going to be completely out of the game by halftime.

Gotta win the turnover battle and run the ball. At home we'd be TD underdogs, so 10-11 points in Seattle is very reasonable.

^ and ^^ are both pretty fair assessments. we don't have the offensive fire power to match up with green bay, imo. so if we can play relatively mistake-free and the offense can get going we can certainly have a close game with seattle.

Tough to win when you can't score and we've had 1 TD in 3 home games against this team. Seahawks and Panthers basically try to play the exact the same way, even defensively we've been playing more cover 1 lately. Having a run game that (almost) matches theirs will help, but at the end of the day, Cam has to outplay Wilson and score TDs in the redzone or we have no shot.

All I can think of is Seattle has beaten Carolina by 5 or 6 points the last few times they played, in Carolina. If home field gives you 3 points, then basically Seattle would be favored by 5 or 6 points in Carolina, 8 or 9 points at a neutral site, and 11 or 12 points at their place.

Unfortunately, I just don't think Cam has anywhere close to the same level of intelligence that RW does. That's the biggest difference between them to me (besides the physical size difference). RW makes plays when they just shouldn't happen. Regardless, I think whoever runs the ball the best in this game is going to win. Gonna be really tough to beat Seattle at home.

When these teams played 2 months ago Stewart ran the ball well, Lynch was contained, and their offense couldn't muster a touchdown until the final minute. Since then we've upgraded our defensive backfield and the offensive line is playing better. If all else remains equal and Cam plays a better game, why can't we win?

you can't really say "all else remains equal" when Seattle went on to go 10-1 after that game. They are not the same team either.

Anyone else thinking this game also comes down to Gano vs Hauschka? With such close scores in recent meetings and a rainy gameday, this could easily be a battle of kickers.

Yeah, and that's why there is such a huge spread, there is an assumption that the Panthers will fold under the pressure. I think we play a pretty tough game and keep it close. They won't blow us out.

^^, ^ Hauschka is definitely the more reliable kicker (I think top kicking-scorer in the NFL this season), so I'm pretty worried if it does come down to kicks.

EDIT: Just checked, Hauschka is #4 and Gano is #15. Surprisingly, there is only a 1% difference in their field goals made/attempt. Hauschka just has about a 5 yard longer range.

I just found out I won't be able to watch the Superbowl this year because of a work trip. This makes me assume that the Panthers will not only make it to the Superbowl, but win the greatest game ever played. Because it's just my luck that it would happen when I can't see it.

I'm chaperoning a school trip, we'll be on the bus for most of game time but I might catch the last quarter if we make good time. I'll have to bring a portable radio with me or something, I doubt the bus will have wifi.

UM what? There have been MULTIPLE games on cable television. This wasn't the first time ESPN ever had an NFL playoff game also, by the way.

Skaterjaw you got learn to use those quote function. So you wont look like a nOOb.

The Arizona offense had 77 total offense or something . Lych might have that on one carry
The o line has played better but I can see Cam eating dirt all game. I believe it will be an ugly embarrassment. But hoping for the best.

Interesting stat:

Quote :
"The Panthers have been effective at keeping Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch under control, holding him to an average of 63.3 yards in three games. He had only 62 yards on 14 carries when the teams met in October"

While the Seahawks have given up a total of 39 points in their last 6 games, these are the quarterbacks they faced during that stretch:

Shaun Hill
Ryan Lindley
Colin Kaepernick
Mark Sanchez
Colin Kaepernick
Drew Stanton

Let's see how they do against Superman

That's what Cardinals fans were saying last week

and it's a little more accurate to say the Panthers are 5-1 in their last 6 games since we played a team after the Falcons
