so we'll be playing a team we already beat in the divisional round: 4(WAS), 5(GB) or 6(SEA). I'd much rather have not had to worry about SEA as a 6 seed but it is what it is. 1/3/2016 11:41:45 PM |

And though I think the impact of a west coast team playing at 1 Eastern is overblown, it can't hurt our chances
Still, I'm on Team Bridgewater next weekend and hoping we get the Packers or Skins 1/4/2016 1:49:46 AM |

yeah, i hate that for Tillman. I was really hoping he would have been able to make it through the playoffs.
We had a lot more success on pass rush with Ealy on the edge yesterday than CJ. With that injury i think we'll see even more of Ealy and Addison. 1/4/2016 3:36:16 PM |

Do you guys think we promote someone in house if McDermott gets a head coaching job?
You'd have to think it would be an easier transition since Rivera won't want to change too much scheme-wise 1/5/2016 1:02:37 PM |

If Shula goes, I think Dorsey would be the most logical replacement, but he's still fairly young. Would love to see Proehl get a shot at some point, but that's probably a few years away. 1/5/2016 1:16:12 PM |

Has Proehl expressed any interest in a larger role? I know he was originally brought in to consult and help a mediocre receiving corps. I figured he stayed on more out of convenience for both parties than anything 1/5/2016 3:43:16 PM |

McDermott is a great coach, but this is Ron Rivera's defense and both of them coached under Jim Johnson in Philadelphia. There won't be much if any drop off if he goes, Rivera will find someone with a similar philosophy and keep on rolling. Look at Seattle, they've led the league in defense under 3 different coordinators. Also he's not taking Kuechly with him.
Shula getting considered for head coaching gigs is a testament to the kind of season Cam Newton has had. He's done a good job installing schemes tailored to Cam's unique talents but I honestly think the offense could benefit from a fresh set of eyes and bit more creativity. I don't think he's especially talented and will flame out as a head coach. 1/5/2016 6:30:02 PM |

Finally beating Seattle in Seattle was "getting the monkey off our back", to lose to them in the playoffs...again, and this time at home...don't think that would be good for us. Need to keep that monkey off our back.
Didn't we lose in our first playoff game the last time we had the bye? Where Arizona came to our place and smacked us around when were the #2 seed in the NFC? Don't want a repeat of that. 1/6/2016 7:59:53 AM |

Coordinator develops an offense suited for the franchise quarterback. Offense leads the entire league in scoring.

^^^ we also lost our first game off a bye in 2012 (when Ric Flair betrayed us and backed the 49ers). byes have not historically been good to the Panthers (though this is only the fourth one), with the only win off a bye being the first one in 1996
the playoff record against the NFC West is also abysmal with an 0-2 record against the Seahawks, 0-1 against the 49ers, 1-1 against the Cards, and 1-0 against the Rams (compared to 5-1 vs the rest of the NFC) 1/6/2016 8:38:36 AM |

Depends on how much his receivers want to catch the ball. With that temp, the football is going to be like catching a brick and the ground is going to be like getting tackled on concrete. 1/6/2016 3:29:08 PM |

Quote : | "We can compare his efficiency numbers to the other quarterbacks in the league. The quarterbacks who thrive from completely clean pockets. The quarterbacks who have ball-winning receivers who erase the need for accuracy. The quarterbacks who throw to dynamic, creative runners who can create yards after the catch on screens and other simple throws. Or we can be realistic. We can actually assess how rare a talent the Panthers passer is. We can actually acknowledge how high his performance level has been each week. We can appreciate how important he has been to his team's 15 victories this season without feeling compelled to diminish it by pointing to Luke Kuechly and Josh Norman.
Maybe it's inconvenient for some, but Cam Newton is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL now. He was the best in 2015." |
