"Noen, you cant stand the fact that some people would rather play a DS and enjoy games that have more replay value than a PSP will ever have. It eats you up inside. Why you care that much, I dont know. "

DID YOU EVEN FUCKING READ MY POST?

I actually like Gameboy games better (though not yet the DS, since there aren't enough titles to really say one way or another). I'd rather play them emulated on a PSP than on a DS. The PSP has a better feel for the older games.

Way to once again completely ignore what I am saying, continuing your fanboy frenzy.

Quote :
"How is that I say I prefer 2d games to the boring fucking drove of clunky 3d games out there being ignorant. ITS AN OPINION.
"

Once again you dumbass, I'm not disputing your opinion. Maybe if you didn't have the reading comprehension of a THREE YEAR OLD, you would have noticed that my dispute is that you ARE putting down the other console BECAUSE it doesn't have the games you like.

The ONLY thing the DS has on the PSP is the touchscreen. The PSP has SO many feature advantages it's rediculous.

Quote :
"If there is any ignorance right now, its you showing your ass, getting riled up, and and flaming DS users-- going nuts calling me a fanboy or talk about pokemon or 'jerking off to hentai' -- wtf is that? Ive never even watched or played anything pokemon in my life. Hentai too."

It's called sarcasm. Good job picking up on that.

MAYBE YOU MISSED THIS, SO I WILL REPOST IT NICE, BIG AND BOLD SO YOUR IDIOT ASS CAN READ IT AGAIN:

Quote :
"The PSP is a more versatile PLATFORM. Much like the xbox is more versatile compared to the PS2

The PSP game library is going to mirror the PS2
The DS game library is going to mirror the Gamecube.

If you are buying one or the other JUST for the new games, pick accordingly.
"

Now please explain to me how ANY of that is fanboyish, how ANY of that is ignorant.

And I bought my PSP because of the NON-GAMING ABILITIES.

I have my portfolio on it, I carry documents on it, I listen to music and watch video on it. I *occasionally* play ONE game on it, which accounts for less than 10% of my total use of the device. As soon as a webbrowser is released, I will be emailing and browsing on it.

The DS cannot do ANY of this natively.

don't give me the sarcasm bit -- without posting any type of emoticon, claiming you were being sarcastic is empty. You are simply using it as a lame excuse to cover up your flaming.

Face the facts man, you care a lot more about this. Who sounds like more of a fanboy?

neither is the PSP

The DS is a portable GAMING system. It plays games.

The PSP is a portable ENTERTAINMENT system. It plays games, movies, photos and music.

Dude you know there are PDA's that do more than a PSP in terms of versatility for like the same price right?

I won't argue that the psp is a damn pretty machine.
But I already own a laptop and an mp3 player. I don't need more protability than that. I don't want to watch movies on a portable screen anyway.
And so, as a gamer I look at both platforms as gaming devices. One is overly expensive and has a library of ps2 rehashes. One is cheap and has new, creative games. The choice betwen the two as gaming systems is pretty clear.

Since they're offering Mario 64 DS for free and that game Meteos has caught my eye, I'll probably pick up a DS soon.

Once the PSP gets some good games from Square Enix and Capcom, I might get one.

Meteos is great dude. Just get that, Kirby, and Mario 64 and you'll have a blast. In the next couple of months, an assload of AAA titles will be out.

That wins teh thread. Thats the same way I feel. PSP deifnitely see it differently, its FINE TO DISAGREE.

The problem is that the PSP people are flaming DS owners, Nintendo as a whole, and the DS itself.......yet Ive seen no hostility other than a dislike of PSP from the DS crowd. Can we say maturity imbalance?

You dipshits are the ones flaming. We are defending the ability of the device.

And if I recall, this thread is PSP versus DS, NOT PSP GAMES VERSUS DS GAMES.

Noen, you're really looking more and more like a childish fanboy with every post you make in this thread.

The primary function of both systems is to play games. If you didn't take the games into account it really would be a one sided battle. Yes the amount of extra things that you can do on the PSP give it an advantage as far as features go and as many people have pointed out (including yourself) the PSP is a much more powerful system. In the end it all comes down to games. Without a comparison of games there would be no comparison at all.

for those psp owners who were stupid enough to update (myself included), it looks like there's new hope

http://www.pspupdates.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4926

no software yet, but with the hardware that team Xecuter has come up with, it looks like downgrading the firmware will be a distinct possibility in the near future...

not only that, but it the psp should become a lot more open and customizable...

note: so far, the only thing they have developed is hardware that allows you to connect usb storage devices, but this hardware also seems to have given hackers a great deal more access inside the psp

anybody on here played coded arms yet?

i want to get another game, but don't feel like spending $$$ on one when I know I'm gonna be buying GTA when it comes out.

All I have is wipeout and lumines right now.. I was thinking of hot shots golf cos I figure it's got some good replay value

I played the Jap version for about 5 minutes. It seemed alright. I never really liked FPS games that much so it wasn't my cup of tea, but if you like them, it seems to be getting pretty good reviews from both gamers and review sites.

so I finally played the psp tonight. Nice system. Until you play the games

How are people so entranced by lumines? I thought it was mega boring, just dropping square blocks. It moved like a dead snail.

Meteos > Lumines like you'd never believe (imo)

What does that mean? Hot Shots golf + Tony Hawk Underground 2 + Mercury > The entire DS Library.

I totally agree about Lumines though. I played it for 5 minutes and couldn't get into it at all. And I usually love the falling block games (Dr Mario, Columns, Tetris, etc) but I just never did see what the big deal was with Lumines. I ended up giving my copy of the game to my little sister.

I haven't played Meteos, but quite honestly all the comparisons to Lumines are making me not want to even try it. Maybe I'll download the ROM and try it on an emulator to see if I like it enough to buy a copy.

I didnt play hotshots golf but im sure id like it. Meteos is nothing like lumines -- the only reason there are comparisions is b/c its the same developer, Q?. Other than that, the gameplay is not a damn thing like it.

Regardless if you have a psp or not, if you own a DS wo/ meteos.......you really need to act now.

The best game, hands down for PSP is Mercury. It's equivalent to what Katamari Damacy brought back the PS2, that is, innovative game design.

I picked up a DS, Mario 64, Kirby Canvas Curse, and Meteos today. Meteos has been a lot of fun so far and Mario 64 plays pretty well even without the analog stick. Haven't opened Kirby yet, but overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase atm. BTW, according to Gamestop, the free Mario 64 offer runs out July 12th.

I believe a big part of Lumines is the music. Most reviews suggest playing the game with headphones and volume up.

On a side note, Nintendo may be bringing the Play-Yan Adapter here this fall, which allows you to play MP3s and Mpeg-4 video on the GBA and DS using an SD card.

Because we really need to make the DS even bigger and bulkier.

The PSP should have out a CompacFlash / SD / MMC / IDE adapter in the next couple of months.

Does the DS even have the horsepower to decode a divx avi? That's not a slam, I just honestly don't think so. I think any videos played on the DS would have to be low res / low bitrate. Those videos that came out for the GBA were pretty craptacular.

Currently 1.0 (original jap versions) and 1.50 (original US versions and later jap versions) are the only ones that can run homebrew software and the downloaded ISOs.

Whatever you do, don't upgrade your firmware to 1.51 or 1.52. Then you'll be SOL until someone cracks that/finds a way to downgrade.

Not quite as cool as the iTrip mod, but this guy has found a way to connect sega controllers to the psp. He says that you'll be able to use the controllers to play as the second (or third/fourth) player in multiplayer games (emulated not original psp games obviously)

I guess the next step would be to get it to work with dual shock controllers.
