I think Nightcrawler's served his purpose, I don't really see his character going anywhere in the movies, especially since they're adding so many people...so I can understand why he won't be in there. 6/19/2005 11:46:02 PM |

I think they should appropriately name this movie "X-Men 3: Wolverine And The Rest of Them Muties"
It's like the rest of the team doesnt exist. 6/28/2005 3:56:58 PM |

Quote : | "Maggie Grace (Lost) is out as Kitty Pryde. The production team has just issued a casting notice for the role. Ratner and Co. are a smart bunch because they're using the script to The Astonishing X-Men comic-book as sides. Wanna know the irony? The comic-book is written by Joss Whedon, who every fanboy dreamed of having writing and directing X-Men 3." |
Quote : | ""The real story behind dropping Nightcrawler from the current script are two reasons: One being that the studio looked at the number of X-Men that were going to be in this new story and it was just too many to fit in.The producers really wanted new heroes like Beast to be given their own screen time as this is the first X-Men Movie they are in, and between the new heroes being added to the story and looking at how much the budget was going to be, something had to give. Nightcrawler's absense will not be explained, nor will the part be recasted." says scooper BA.
"Also despite what you might have heard on the web, Not everyone has yet said "Yes" to a return for X3. The studio does want James Marsden to return as Cyclops and there have been talks of getting his Superman shoot over sooner so that he can get to Canada in time for shooting this August."
"Also the part of Gambit has yet to be cast. Yes, he is still in the script, but no one has been cast in the part. I think they are close to signing someone for the part, but it is cutting things close to wire as there are barely two months left to get the movie ready both in casting and in readings so that everyone knows what the final script is all about." did anyone think the first and second films weren't up to par?
i'm an x-fan too, but i was waiting to see something darker from the director. i think they should give it to burton, fincher, peter jackson, or ridley scott.
and i hate it when they get into the love-crush battle for jean between wolverine and cyclops. that stuff ruined the (mediocre) cartoon.

and, now they're ruining a great storyline that could have really rocked if Whedon had ever given an X-movie a swing

the job of film should be to improve the realness of the comic art, not bring it to the screen in the same detail.
fanpride shouldn't get in the way of one's criticism.
and there are movies that i like a great deal that do a good job a comic book adaptation. spiderman, for instance. batman (begins), hellboy, and ghost rider for some others.
(i'm going ahead and posting ghost rider b/c nicholas cage rarely ever picks a bad project.) 6/30/2005 1:04:42 AM |

Quote : | "Writer/director Joss Whedon (the upcoming Wonder Woman) has commented on rumors that his "Firefly" and "Serenity" star Summer Glau is up for the role of Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3, now that "Lost" star Maggie Grace is no longer on board. Whedon posted the following on the "Serenity" official site's message board:
Summer did read for Kitty in X3. I know because she called me and mentioned she was going to and did I know anything about the character (there were no 'sides' to study -- they had to get them when they came in). So the girl I turned into sort of a superhero in my movie was going to read for the character that most influenced ALL my girl-heroes, Kitty Pryde. Karmically funky. Anyhoo, she called me after and said it was very emotional and kind of like when she read for FIREFLY, she just got into a very intense groove. She started telling me about the scene she read and that's when I realized WHY it was kind of like she read for FIREFLY. 'Cause (as you may know) it was a scene I wrote for Astonishing X-Men issue #5. I assume they just didn't have sides ready and used that but this was like a karmic moebius strip, it was just too folded in on itself. In this time of odd, I turned to beer. (No I didn't. Stay in school.)
I don't know what the X-peeps are looking for -- or even if that other girl has really dropped out -- but for my money, Summer would make a wonderful Kitty. (And I don't say that lightly.) As long as it doesn't interfere with SERENITY II: RICARDO MONTALBAN'S STILL PISSED -- or, much more importantly, SERENITY III: SO VERY NUDE." |

Hmmmm. In more solid news, principal photography begins at Hatley Castle (Royal Roads University) in Victoria, Canada at the end of this month according to X-Men Films. Fox Co-Chairman Tom Rothman talked about the film and other superhero flicks to IESB.
Finally it looks pretty likely that "Carnivale" actor Nick Stahl will be playing the role of Angel. " |
