I'd think they'd milk out as long as they can, but the stage has been set for ceasar's demise. They'll probably carry it on from there though.

I have a pretty big question here, I think they fucked up the story the slave Titus Pullo rescued, Eirene, was rescued alone. How in the hell did her husband suddenly get in there?

That was another slave that she met there after pullo brought her back. Also they weren't really married he said they just considered themselves married.

I wish they would have had one or two more filler episodes. Seems getting to caesar's death so quickly is a waste of a character/actor. Though it does make what they do have quality.

Relatively speaking, Ceasar is in power for a fairly short time (roughly 5 years). But they have most of the major players involved in the power struggle that ensues (Octavian, Antony, Cleopatra, Brutus, etc.) after his death in the picture already. I won't completely spoil the details for those that don't want what's to come (assuming they continue on with more than just this season), but they very easily could go on with the way they are handling things if they so wished. There are a few people who become important under Augustus that would need to be introduced, but their roles are such that there is no reason to waste time bringing them in at this point when there is so much other material to be covered.

He killed on of lucious' slaves because he wanted to marry that slave girl he liked. Then he went to work for the guy that lucious worked for that one time and was basically killing people for him. He ended up killing some well known guy that was speaking out against caesar and got arrested.

That was a fucking awesome fight scene at the end. When Veranus' drove the hilt of that huge mace down through the guy's shoulder ... wow. And damn, the time passes really quickly in this show, when Caesar and Brutus were playing that board game, Caesar said that it had been years since Brutus sided with Pompey. How long has it been since the first episode then? About 5 years?

A little over 5 years since the first episode. Here's a brief history if you're interested in how closely they are sticking to what actually happened. I was glad to see them say that this week is the season finale though instead of the series finale. Looks like they will be making another season after all instead of just a 12 part mini-series.

As someone mentioned before, they've already introduced all the characters needed to carry out the drama from Julius Caesar's assassination through the rise of Augustus Caesar. They could easily milk another season or two out of that time frame.

Verinas is my favorite character, I just can't identify with someone like Pullo who is driven by Achellian emotions, I empathize with him, but he's still simply a brute. That last episode was awesome.

I don't want him to die. I feel sympathy for him. He's a simple man, but I think he tries to be good. As always, we all have our faults and his foray into hired killing I think was just a reaction to the wild emotions he had to deal with.... Overwhelming love to free his slave, devastation at being rejected, rage at his rival, murder, then complete rejection and destitution by his only friend (verinas). Add to that a little bit of simmering jealousy of his friend and you have a perfect storm of despair to drive him to his crimes.

He's really just a soldier without a war to fight...
