This was the first year the HS I attended switched to block scheduling, we were grandfathered in, so I "graduated" in May, started community college(long wrong to NCSU degree began). I went back to HS in May to graduate with my class.

exactly 10 years ago i was 20.

damn time passes so much faster when you get older.

the past 10 years seem to have passed twice as fast as the 10 years prior to that.

it just seems like yesterday when i was a 2nd semester freshman exactly 10 years ago.

It was about 10 years ago (probably more like 10 1/2) that I bought my TI-83 plus calc. The same one that is currently sitting on my desk that I just used to balance my checking account.

10 years ago today I was at the beach during HS Spring Break my junior year getting the worst sunburn of my life... damn accutane and high school arrogance.

I delt with it fairly well though. lots and lots of booze.

I was in my first year of middle school.

Math class was so so, the teacher was alright, but I was paired with a grader would count .5 wrong b/c she didn’t know it was the same thing as 0.5.

English & social studies were a lot of fun. My social studies professor retired the next year so I got to see the big going away party they did for her.

Science class was actually religion class, but what else would you expect of mayberry. I mean talking about the end of days in class was exciting b/c it sounded very violent, but it wasn’t really the point of science class.

The first gym class with a locker room, and having to run around a lot, and where those annoying heart monitors that were abused like bra straps for the popping got old pretty fast. Luckily I was one of the taller guys… and larger = less people messing with you. Running in circles listening to the awful music & doing the electric slide were memories I’d just as soon forget.

Chorus was an easy A.

I liked the notion of homeroom. It was a class without homework that largely served a social function.

Not having assigned seats or tables for lunches was awesome, but then again at the time I thought MTG was too.

I was 15, about to be finished with 9th grade after accomplishing only so-so grades (C's), hanging out with goth kids, and working at a fast food restaurant. I had a hot girlfriend, though. So for all I knew, life was awesome.

Shit was just about to change.

I responded to the open auditions at WRAL for this TV show called CentralXPress, won a lead sometime in May/June, and everything got better. Ten years ago nowish marks the beginning of an 8-year Awesome Period in my life.

march 1998. i was going to ncsu, 3rd semester freshman. living in fuquay still, at my first apartment. was still dating the same girl i picked up senior year in high school. so really nothing changed until july or august of that year when i got rid of the dead weight and moved to raleigh finally. in time to drop out for the first time and start working at applebees for a number of years

so 10 years ago today i still didnt have a clue about much outside my hometown, but the next 6 months was gonna be wild!
