I believe Jay moved the ball all the way down and scored on VT on the first drive of the seaon.. Just to prove you wrong that he has moved the ball at least once. 11/4/2005 3:11:00 PM |

Can't wait to see how CharlieEFH explains how Jay Davis would have done a better job in the FS game.
I guess the FS QB did get more INTs than we did. Lost that battle. 11/5/2005 7:24:41 PM |

I was really impressed with stone's toughness today. WHen he ran over that LB..i thought...we are going to be ok. I still don't think he throws the ball very well. But he played his heart out. 11/5/2005 7:37:13 PM |

Marcus doesn't bring anything to the table that Jay Davis couldn't quarterback-wise.
I like his arm better (zipping the ball in there instead of lofting it like Jay does).. and he's got a future.
The reason we are better with Stone and should continue to play Stone is that the team gave up on Jay Davis. Marcus Stone brings a new glimmer of hope and a new attitude to this team... the will to win. It's not pretty, but he's 2-0.... the team believes in him and he lifts them. They didn't believe in Jay.
I don't think Stone is better than Jay. I don't think Jay is much better than Stone. I think the team plays better and harder with Stone and rolls over and dies with Jay.
Plain and simple...play Stone

I like stone better, but let's face it, Stone is 2-0 in games where Andre Brown has run for what, 400+ yards and 3 TDs?
Who knows what Jay would do with that kind of run production? I know that FSU had to adjust it's blitz package since Brown cut through them a couple of times for big yardages.... 11/5/2005 7:49:12 PM |

I agree Stone sucks, but davis would have thrown 4 INT's and 2 of those would have been FSU TD's.
I don't care how many yards Brown has ran for, it isn't like the game would have been a carbon copy if Davis would have been the QB 11/5/2005 8:19:01 PM |

we can run liek that because stone is a threat to open the field up, he might not complete all of his passes, but the other team cant stack the box so much with stone 11/5/2005 8:21:06 PM |

I was happy with stone's performance in the end. he didnt make any critical errors(that I can remember), which is one of the keys to the game. plenty of teams are really good and have a mediocre quarterback, but they still win because the QB can manage the game and not fuck up, which stone did a good job of tonight. 11/5/2005 8:23:16 PM |

he didnt make errors because he didnt throw that much.

The reason we're better with Stone is because we become a running team with Stone. With Jay, it was a pass-happy offense. With Stone, it's been mostly running and giving the ball off to our talented RBs, in this case, Andre Brown who so happens to have tremendous speed and power and instincts. We've now become the NCAA equivalent of the Steelers. We have a QB who isn't asked to do much and limit his mistakes and make a few plays here and there. We have a bruising running game and much better linemen schemes to break big runs. We have a defense who is finally playing inspired football and creating turnovers and sacks. And it all came about at exactly the same time. If Chuck planned it this way, he's a genius but I think it's all pretty much coincidence and good timing for all of us. 11/5/2005 8:34:02 PM |

I said it in the game thread.... the KEY play on 3rd and 14... Marcus rifled the ball to Ritcher for the first down in between about 3 FSU DB's/LB's... which set up a field goal. Ritcher still has a bruise on his chest I would imagine from where the ball hit him.
Jay Davis couldn't have made that throw. He doesn't have the arm strength to get the ball there quick... it would have been an interception... probably for a big gain.
The thing I love about Stone is his arm strength and the ability to get the ball to the receiver super fast. Jay couldn't... and when the ball is hanging in the air... the defense can react.
