Who the hell is Mel Kiper Jr anyway?

was just reading a chat wrap with Mel Kiper and he was saying that Manny is being looked at by the Cowboys as a potential first round pick

Quote :
"They've added guys. Dallas went out in FA and did some things. When you look at them on paper, they have some need areas that supercede the OL. I think they could now look at a free safety. Jason Allen a CB/S, Manny Lawson a DE. They would be nice choices for the Cowboys. In the second round, Marcus McNeill if they're still thinking OL.

yeah I heard Kiper talking about how Manny is the type of guy Parcells would like and he would fit in nicely in a 3-4...thats the main reason i have depressingly concluded the Panthers wont take Manny for OLB...3-4 vs 4-3

Latest Mock Draft. Didn't think they would have Hoyte or Tulloch so low but atleast most of our players are on the first day.

1. Houston Texans (2-14)
Top-five needs: OT, OG, DC, WR, RB
The pick: +Reggie Bush, RB, USC

2. New Orleans Saints (3-13)
Top-five needs: OT, DT, OC, DC, OLB
The pick: +Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State
Priority No. 1 for the Saints is still to trade out of this pick. They would love to move down a bit, acquire an extra pick or two and still get one of the top three prospects on their wish list: Williams, Ferguson or Ohio State OLB A.J. Hawk. The team will send out smoke signals following USC QB Matt Leinart's private visit on Wednesday, but don't buy into the hype. If the Saints get stuck picking at No. 2, the decision will be between Williams and Ferguson. While Ferguson fills a great area of need, rumor has it the Saints have Williams rated ahead of him on their board.

3. Tennessee Titans (4-12) Top-five needs: OT, MLB, QB, RB, OC
The pick: Matt Leinart, QB, USC

4. New York Jets (4-12)
Top-five needs: RB, OT, OLB, QB, OG
The pick: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia

5. Green Bay Packers (4-12)
Top-five needs: OG, OLB, OC, DE, WR
The pick: A.J. Hawk, OLB, Ohio State

6. San Francisco 49ers (4-12)
Top-five needs: OLB, FS, DC, DE, MLB
The pick: +Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland

7. Oakland Raiders (4-12)
Top-five needs: OG, DT, OLB, SS, RB
The pick: +Vince Young, QB, Texas

8. Buffalo Bills (5-11)
Top-five needs: OT, DT, DC, RB, WR
The pick: +Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon

9. Detroit Lions (5-11)
Top-five needs: DC, OLB, ILB, OT, RB
The pick: Michael Huff, DB, Texas

10. Arizona Cardinals (5-11)
Top-five needs: DB, TE, QB, OT, OLB
The pick: +Ernie Sims, OLB, Florida State

11. St. Louis Rams (6-10)
Top-five needs: DT, DC, WLB, OG, OT
The pick: Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa

12. Cleveland Browns (6-10)
Top-five needs: DE, OLB, WR, NT, DC
The pick: Kamerion Wimbley, DE/OLB, Florida State

13. Baltimore Ravens (6-10)
Top-five needs: DS, QB, ROT, DT, OG
The pick: Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida State

14. Philadelphia Eagles (6-10)
Top-five needs: OLB, WR, OT, RB, FS
The pick: +Winston Justice, OT, USC

15. Denver Broncos (10-6)
Pick acquired from Falcons
Top-five needs: WR, TE, RB, OG/OC, DT
The pick: +Chad Jackson, WR, Florida

16. Miami Dolphins (9-7)
Top-five needs: DC, WR, DS, OG, LB
The pick: +Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio State

17. Minnesota Vikings (9-7)
Top-five needs: MLB, OLB, DC, QB, WR
The pick: Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt

18. Dallas Cowboys (9-7)
Top-five needs: FS, OT, OG, DC, NT
The pick: +Donte Whitner, DS, Ohio State

19. San Diego Chargers (9-7)
Top-five needs: OT, WR, DS, OG, DC
The pick: +Johnathan Joseph, DC, South Carolina

20. Kansas City Chiefs (10-6)
Top-five needs: DC, WR, OG, DE, QB
Top pick: Tye Hill, DC, Clemson

21. New England Patriots (10-6)
Top-five needs: ILB/OLB, WR, DC, RB, DT
The pick: +Antonio Cromartie, DC, Florida State

22. San Francisco 49ers (4-12)
Pick acquired from Redskins via Broncos
Top-five needs: OLB, FS, DC, DE, MLB
The pick: Manny Lawson, DE, N.C. State
Trading away two Day 1 picks (37, 68) in order to move up to this spot puts the 49ers in position to pursue a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball. There should be at least a couple of worthy defensive backs to choose from, but Lawson is the perfect fit as a rush-linebacker in the Niners' 3-4 scheme.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5)
Top-five needs: OT, OC, WR, WLB, DE
The pick: Jimmy Williams, DC, Virginia Tech

24. Cincinnati Bengals (11-5)
Top-five needs: TE, DE, DC, MLB, RS
The pick: TE Mercedes Lewis, TE, UCLA

25. New York Giants (11-5)
Top-five needs: OLB, WR, DT, OT, RB

26. Chicago Bears (11-5)
Top-five needs: DC, TE, SLB, OT, DT
The pick: +Ashton Youboty, DC, Ohio State

27. Carolina Panthers (11-5)
Top-five needs: SLB, TE, RB, OT, MLB
The pick: DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
While the Panthers have greater needs, Williams would be too good of a value to pass up on this late in the first round. Williams would give them great insurance should the oft-injured DeShaun Foster miss substantial time. He should prove to be an upgrade over Foster in the long run.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars (12-4)
Top-five needs: OLB, TE, DE, OG, DC
The pick: Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College

29. New York Jets (4-12):
Pick acquired from Broncos
Top-five needs: RB, OT, OLB, QB, OG
The pick: +Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota

30. Indianapolis Colts (14-2)
Top-five needs: RB, OLB, OG, MLB, DC
The pick: LenDale White, RB, USC

31. Seattle Seahawks (13-3)
Top-five needs: DC, FS, WR, OG, TE
The pick: Richard Marshall, DC, Fresno State

32. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5)
Top-five needs: WR, DE, DS, OC/OG, ILB
The pick: Jason Allen, DB, Tennessee

yeah I didnt see Williams dropping that far to Carolina but it does somewhat make sense, being that Denver traded their 22nd pick to San Fran. and they were the ones that probably would have picked him up. That would be a really nice pick up for Carolina if he falls that far.

^This shit is beautiful. The NFL is far and away my favorite of all drafts, and this year's is going to be power-rad with all the nonsense that may or may not happen when the time comes. I love rampant speculation!

May be a stupid question but why is everyone knocking Lendale for not running the 40 and being in shape when we has a partially torn hamstring? Do they expect him to run the 40 with that? I know his bench press was low and that would be a concern but just didnt know if their was something else that I didnt know about?

So Mario is going number 1 to the Texans. Do you think the Saints start to recieve alot more calls about a trade or do you think their sold on taking Bush even with Deuce?

they should trade with the Jets, and the Jets will take Bush and the Saints will take Ferguson. Works out for both teams.

Saints just signed Jamie Martin.. I think this basically rules them out for a QB for this year.. just saw it on ESPN.. dont have a link

^saints will either sign Bush or deal the pick, this is great news for them, b/c plenty of folks want Bush, so their #2 pick just became incredibly valuable!

^^ that was mike ditka's fault

but yeah, we should get Brick, definitely

I've been saying it for awhile now - Brick will be the next Willie Roaf. Bush will be the next Brian Mitchell

12 minutes per pick for the first round, so there's 6.5 hours there.
