NBADraftnet is the same bunch of idiots that said Josh Powell was a first round lock. Until a credible source says different, no way I see Ced going in the lottery.

Don't forget we have that random transfer guard that will be playing next year. Don't know if he will be any good.

nbadraft.net is pretty credible.

Ive been following them the last two years and their projections mirror those of scouts and guys like Chris Ford. It's more of a reactionary website than a predictory model.

NBA projections are volatile... guys can slide up and down very quick based on one or two workouts or performances, particularly with incomplete information on all the HS and Euros in the mix.

Now that HS'ers arent allowed i expect their accuracy will be even better.

Ultimately, I think Ced will do well in his one on one workouts because he's tough to stop and tough to score against.

If he had to compete in 5 on 5 drills like Powell did, he'd struggle more.

Ced is way too highly ranked to have to bother with that shit though. He should never have to workout beyond 2 on 2 drills.

And everyone knows what a dominant player Ced is with space...

I expect him to solidify his status as a ~late lottery pick and not return to State.

Good for him, always happy to see a good guy succeed. His life shouldnt revolve around your desire to have a good college team.

Most sensible thing that has been posted on these boards since the coaching search began.

^And Ced won't get fucked...he'll get drafted in the first round.

He is more of a center than Evtimov, who has been known to play there. You don't need a true center in college, even if it is nice to have one. Hansbrough isn't a true center, McRoberts (if he stays) sure as hell isn't a true center. McCauley will fit into the mold alright.

Why are we going to suck next year?

You guys are fucking ridiculous.

If Cedric were back we'd have the best starting lineup in the entire ACC.

Losing him sucks, but we have two adequate replacements in Brackman & McCauley.

Cedric might have been our best all-around player but its not like we were a one man team in the first place.

Gavin Grant is going to score at will next year.

....and i think it's pretty much a fact that Brackman won't be back

thus, we'll suck next year

Who cares about the classes coming in at Duke?

UNC will be better than us because of Roy and their depth but their starting lineup probably wouldnt be better than ours...

Everyone knows Duke's wouldnt be.

What the fuck are freshman going to do against Atsur, Grant, Fells, Costner, Simmons?

Oh wait I forgot Duke's potent combo of Pocius & McClure.

haha, calling them a potent combo is just funny

^ You Herb supporters are in complete denial. Next year was going to be our best team in almost twenty years. If you can't see that, then I wonder why you were supporting Herb in the first place...

And Brackman is coming back. You cant go pro in baseball until you complete three seasons in college. This is common knowledge. I mean sure there is a slim chance he could forego basketball to concentrate on baseball, but that's pretty unlikely.

You guys are fucking homos.

Its hilarious how you called me a bad fan for 3 years for pointing out obvious negatives like Herb Sendek.

And now you're showing your true colors.

Our roster is absolutely loaded. Give it a rest already.

You are the same moes that will be on the bandwagon next year when we're playing good basketball.

Losing Cedric hurts, we might not be one of the top 15 teams in the country anymore... but we should still be a top 25 team.

If not, we've still got a good nucleus for several years to come... (Fells, Costner, Davis, etc)

^ This hatred of Brackman is completely absurd. He ended up as a top 40 recruit and he had a very good freshman season. He struggled last year, but who didn't? He's a good player and will help us in ways that Evtimov only dreamed about.

Atsur: You're kidding right?? Alright, I'll give you "first half of the season" Atsur.

Grant: I like Grant...so I'll give you Grant.

Fells: Potentially...but he averaged like 5 mins a game this year.

Costner: Didn't play last year.

Simmons: I'd say he's a potential great starter until he can get out of the Darius Songaila, foul-a-minute syndrome (which won't matter because he'll be in the NBA).

But that's a lot "ifs"....especially for you rally.

Let me get this straight.

You'll "give" me Atsur. Okay good, because he's the weakest link in that starting five yet he's a good 3pt shooter, good passer, and fairly strong defender.

You'll "give" me Grant because he's potentially the best scorer in the ACC next year.

Your knock on Fells is that he didn't average many minutes. Newsflash, Herb fucked up. He's a player.

Your knock on Costner is that he didn't play. Newsflash, he was a McDonalds All American and he's good.

Your knock on SImmons is that he fouls. You casually missed the part where he can't be guarded one on one and he's an asset on defense on his worst days and borderline dominant on his best days.

Our depth is a question mark but it's not that bad.

Brackman and McCauley are adequate.

And then we've got Davis, Werner, Ferguson, and that other freshman... As long as one (or two) of those guys is a contributor that's an 8 (or 9) man rotation.

Most college teams dont go much deeper than that.

You guys are just blind. If Herb put together such a shitty roster, then why on earth did you want him to stay so badly?

Costner will NOT be a bang around inside player, and if our new coach tries to turn him into that we're fucked. He's a 2-4 type player, and will play a little inside to help out but will NOT make a living inside on either end of the court.

^you realize that one of these guys we got for next year is coming here because he doesnt think he can play in these other coaches systems right?

And brackman is not coming back, go do another line and stop bothering sports talk.

So were Damien Wilkins and Scooter Sherril. And not all McDAA's freshmen come in and kick ass. I'm just saying you're reaching when you say that guy who hasn't played a minute yet will be part of our "BEST LINEUP IN THE ACC EVAR!!!"

Yeah Fells is a player...but how good is he?? We don't know how good he's going to be next year because we haven't seem him play enough. Yeah that's Herb's fault, but that doesn't matter now. What matters is that you're saying he going to be a reason we have the best lineup in the ACC next year when you've only see him play for a combined 7.3 minutes this year.

And you're right...Simmons can't be guarded one-on-one. But he can be doubled teamed easily. And seeing that we're losing three of our best 3-point shooters, he would be double teamed more next year than he was this year. And Ced being double-teamed = turnovers.

I understand your points...because I like our talent level too. But you're reaching.

Are you guys saying we werent a top 20 team this season before our late season Herb induced collapse?

What do we lose, honestly??

Bennerman -- good player, didn't have quite the season he should have... not a go to guy or a reliable every game player though. I love Cam, but he's not irreplaceable at all particularly with Grant and Fells waiting in the wings.

Evtimov -- This is a positive. Costner will be better than Evtimov the minute he puts a jersey on.

Bethel -- We lose our best ball handler, 3 pt shooter, and on the ball defender. This stinks, but its not like he really carried us anyway.

Quote :
"And brackman is not coming back"
YOU HAVE TO PLAY THREE FUCKING SEASONS OF COLLEGE BEFORE YOU CAN GO PRO IN BASEBALL YOU FUCKING CLOWN. Is there a chance he skips basketball season? yes, but it's pretty unlikely. So unless you plan on him dying in an auto accident or something then I'm going to go ahead and pencil him into the rotation since he's ON THE FUCKING ROSTER you douchebag.

What do we add? Three solid recruits, a McDonalds All-American, a transfer guard, a new coach, and newly acquired enthusiasm from the fan base.

Guess what. Duke was a two man team last year. You take away Shelden and Redick and they could not score 50 points a game. Now take away Melchionni & Dockery. Then you likely take away McRoberts. They lost a shitload more than we did. You're crazy if you think they'd be better than us if we got Cedric back.

If you don't think we're going to be good next year then you had no reason to support Herb in the first place. This is his roster, and its loaded.

I cant wait to hear you guys in February saying our new coach is "doing it with Herb's recruits" after proclaiming for months how we were going to suck.

Quote :
"

So yeah, if he goes pro we no longer have the best starting lineup.

But you don't go from having the best starting lineup to the worst just because you lose CEDRIC SIMMONS.

Chris Bosh was twice the player Ced was and they went to the Championship game the year after he bailed.

We're still the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC if we get our shit together and play good basketball.

And if we do somehow have a bad season, we return some really good talent for the next TWO TO THREE SEASONS (Costner, Davis, Grant, etc).

The whole point is there is no reason to bombard the message board with all this Doomsday talk when our program is at its strongest point in 15 years.

It's completely absurd.

Yes, I realize we're in for a miserable football season but there is no reason to let that spill over into basketball conversation.

well our program may be at its strongest in 15 years, but at this point....its struggling a little and starting to lose some of the prominence we had gained

let's recap:
our "rebuilding" coach leaves us for another, possibly shittier, job
we struck out with two of the top coaches in the business
we're losing our best player to the NBA
our recruits are unsure if they still want to come here
we lost our best (potential) recruit in 5 years because of the loss of the our coach

our program is at a critical point, could go either way
