the tires are still hitting in extreme situations. the right rear hits first, but i know i heard the right front hit at least once and i think i felt the left rear hit some too... its nowhere near as bad as it was before though.

speaking of the 12/9 uwharrie trip, two of my rover buddies, meself, and jeepman were coming down rocky mtn. loop towards kodak and we hit a massive amount of oncoming traffic so we parked out shit and walked down to watch some toyota guys tear up their shit. landcruisers were coming up and doing OK, then some 4runner boys did some dumb shit to our amazement, some other yotas impressed us, then came the samis. we were all standing there claiming the longer wheelbase is what was letting the toyos walk up the more difficult shit at kodak when like 4 samurais, one of which was barely modified at all, came through and walked the shit like nobodys business. needless to say, we shut the fuck up.

While I can say my 96 Discovery has been very reliable for me, I do have one big bitch about it and that is water intrusion. the alpine window seals in the roof over the quarter glass leak like a bitch on both sides, the front "windscreen" leaks at the top (3pc design seal ) and the quarter windows/rear hatch glass seals all have splits in them that wouldnt surprise me if I found them leaking. So all that shit is coming up on the TO-DO list, along with replacing the interior parts that were just far gone from being wet. I would like to keep the diamondplate flooring in the back but good old regular carpet wouldnt be so bad either....

The chevy swap is way to expensive to justify it, especially when all you need is a tcase. Price Auto Parts in Knightdale has one for $400. I also know RCH has a good one but I dont know what they want for it.

if its a bottom end knock, the oil pump pickup is probably a little clogged up- pull the pan and clean that sucker out. its not uncommon.

if its a top end knock, run some GM top engine cleaner through it ASAP, you should be able to get it at sir walter on glenwood near your work. the valves on these trucks are prone to buildup and when it gets bad enough they can actually stick and the truck will run like shit (see str8bacardi's rover thread) untill you pull the heads and get them re-done. you might be able to use seafoam, I personally have never bought the seafoam hype but whatever. my truck has had BG44k run through it cause thats what we used at RCH-
