he has one more year before he can go to the MLB. why would he want to miss time playing baseball, the sport he will go pro in, so he can come back to the basketball team with a brand new coach and learn a brand new system just to play limited minutes for ONE year?

i say he decides to focus on baseball and plays a full season there, as he should.

Fells, Grant, Costner alone are enough to make this far from a rebuilding phase.

If you are calling THIS a rebuilding phase then you are basically saying Herb accomplished NOTHING in ten years.

We all know Herb lacked sorely at getting results. I thought the whole argument was that he was building something and was stockpiling talent.

My understanding is that, as a player, Sidney Lowe was a natural coach on the floor.

You can't coach in the NBA without know something about basketball.

Record means squat. Montgomery, Calipari, and Pitino all sucked in the NBA.

They all also were good enough to get a shot at the NBA, as is Lowe.


I'm not ecstatic about the hire (nor dissapointed) , but it has a huge upside to it. He won't leave, he has NBA experience, he has an NC State Nat'l championship ring on his finger... and I think all added together could give him a big edge here as far as recruiting and selling the school to players. If he has any X's and O's skills, I think he can be pretty successful

There's also an inherent risk. We'll see what happens.

I'm not basing my judgement off of an NBA record, though.

Say waht you want about Lowe joshnumbers but the truth is you have no idea how he will work out.


On the other hand, we knew Herb wasn't going to work out.


Lowe is not the ideal hiring.

We botched the ideal hiring by not taking Barnes. We can't just go back in time and fix that.

We botched Steve Lavin because Fowler can't close a deal. That may end up being for the best anyway...


Lowe works for me. If he sucks we can fire him. I'm not gonna convict the man before he even has a chance though.
