what does the shooting tell us about Jack's state of mind right now?

1. Does he sympathize with Assad and other terrorists (oppressed cultures) after he was tortured in China?
2. Does he rather sympathize with Assad because he is trying to help and Curtis was holding an old grudge?

Either way it shows Jack has changed (Jack hated Nina for some of the same reasons Curtis hated Assad but never really got over his feelings even when Nina was helping).

Jack is also emotionally upset after shooting curtis (vomiting). This is rare for Jack, who is the epitome of doing what is necessary (he was going to shoot Chase to keep his cover).

one of the good things about thi season is that its not boring in the beginning as they unravel the plot

we started right smack dab in the middle of the plot

but i'm expecting next week's episode to be weak

i can see that, not much suspence, just lots of action

the only real question for this season is--what was the price they made to get Jack back?

this season, so far, seems like it will revolve around jack

in the past we've seen only instances when Jack isn't superman, when he's "normal" and human

this season he's different, he's conflicted, he's insecure, he's trying to figure out who he is and where he fits now, there is no "right" and "wrong" anymore--at least not as clearly defined as it was before

for that reason, this season will be great
