this thread made me want to look at some other lost message boards...maybe the people on here aren't so bad...this is the first thing i found...a gem indeed


So today i was rewatching A Tale of Two Cities when I noticed something right off the bat. When the plane was going down Ben said something really interesting to Goodwin. Here is what he said:

GALE: Goodwin, did you see where the tail landed?

GOODWIN: Yeah, probably in the water.

GALE: You run and you can make that shore line in an hour.

You might think that that is just an ordinary sentence right, but compare that to what Ana Lucia said to Goodwin in The Other 48 Days.

ANA: The knife -- it's U.S. military. Here [she reaches for the knife] I'll show you. You see the tang stamp? [We see a U.S. Army stamp] This knife's probably 20 years old. You don't see these anymore, yet here it is, on this island. Weird, huh? Can I ask you something?

GOODWIN: Sure, Ana.

ANA: When you ran out of the jungle the day of the crash -- how did you find Bernard up in the tree?

GOODWIN: I heard him shouting from the beach.

ANA: From the beach?

GOODWIN: Why are you asking me about that, Ana?

ANA: Did he see you out there? Is that why you pretended to be one of us? You ran out of the jungle 10 minutes after the crash, you weren't wet. You were never even in the ocean. Where are they -- your friends? Nathan -- what did you...


How could have Goodwin had run all the way to the shore where the Tailies crashed in Ten Minutes?
That is a big island, almost on the whole other side. Even the Losties have said it is a really far walk to the Arrow. Hmmm. Maybe this will be discussed. I have heard that like the Others have superpowers, maybe Goodwin has Super Speed. Hopefully this hasn't been discussed.

she didn't know he arrived 10 minutes after the plane crashed...she just knew she didnt' recognize him from before and that he showed up after they got out of the water...

I'm pretty sure that he was pointing out the discussion of an extremely valid point and perhaps plot hole and somehow saying it was worse than the discussion that occurred about the supposed marriage between Juliette and some other guy named Ben.

But maybe I missed what he was trying to get at as well.

the plane that crashed was the plane that jack was on, stop worrying about how it broke apart or time

if any show's writers would pay attention to details like that from season one, it would be this show's

but i do believe that the 'ten minutes' comment was just an idiomatic expression meaning that he showed up very shortly thereafter, and not exactly ten minutes after

There's speculation that the passengers were rendered unconscious immediatly prior to the crash by the collective conscious or something else and placed onto the ground or in some other way safely delivered to the ground hence the large number of survivors. If this (or anything to do with them being rendered unconscious) is actually the case then what Ana Lucia perceived as 10 minutes after the crash may not have actually been 10 minutes after the crash depending on how long they were kept unconscious

Then again maybe its just an oversight by the writers

5. Why has no one ever seen the others' little neighborhood before?
6. What connection do the other have with the Dharma institute (and why do they make themselves look so shabby)?

8. What's the deal with the sickness and the vaccinations (Russo said her crew got sick, they injected Claire, Desmond took the injections)?
9. Where is Walt & Michael and are they really being allowed to leave the island?
10. What's the deal with Penelope now that she saw the explosion?
11. Why do the others take the children?
12. WTF is up with Walt's "powers"?
13. When are the survivors going to find out that Michael shot AL?
14. Was Shannon starting to get sick when she kept seeing Michael dripping wet? Were Charlie's hallucinations ever explained? Were Jack's hallucinations ever explained?
15. Why did the Shark have the logo on it (I'm assuming the polar bears were part of the maritime re-acclimation thing from the map)?
16. What were the effects of the hatch blowing up (something else get pulled towards the island)?
17. What's the deal with hearing voices when wandering around the island?
18. Why did Artz not get a burial scene like everyone else?

And that 10 minute thing. I mean honestly though do you think if you were in a plane crash and you had to swim to shore and blah blah blah all that stuff save lives ya know that good stuff, you're gonna actually be able to estimate 10 minutes. I'm sure it probably felt like 10 minutes because everything happened so fast. I don't think that's a big deal. I think she was just making a point that she didn't see him during the initial panic of the wreck and that it was kinda sketchy that he showed up later and wasn't wet.

Yeah, in the season 2 finale when they were walking to the Other's camp and killed one of them that was trailing them, Jack got in Michael's face and was yelling at him about how he betrayed them. Michael says he had to. And then Hurley asks Michael if he had to kill AL and Libby, and he says yes, he didn't mean to and he's sorry, but yes he killed them.

remember in the season finale from last season, Kelvin told Desmond to take the shot every so often. Come to find out he was bullshitting him... desmond went up outside the hatch and found out you could breathe fine up there, and there was no risk..

We saw that dude last season. It wasn't the bald guy. I think it was the Japanese EPA agent or something like that ... dude was shutting down Sun's father's car factories or something. Jin punched him a lot, held him under water, and I think stole his dog. In the background of that scene was a TV showing Hurley after he won the lottery.

(actually, the dog stealing was a gift from that dude the first time Jin visited him. Jin was polite and told him to please change his ways. Sun's dad then made him go back the next week or something and beat the shit out of him)

she totally likes jack. she will probably help jack out and leave Ben (henry gale) about half way through the season. Seems to be the Lost style.

I read this article last week (you guys may have already known this) about how the name "Henry Gale" was a big throw back to Wizard of Oz. Henry Gale was her Uncle's name and of course the hot air balloon is how she got to Oz, etc. I never put that together but I think that's kinda cool.
I don't know, I don't remember that being discussed on the thread...

when they were hiding in the trees waiting to ambush the others... didn't everyone just think to themselves, "god...they are just gonna go through the water and get to the boat...this is going to end badly". I remember when Lost used to have awesome little surprises.. The only one in this episode was the Dahrma looking people watching Sawyer and Kate scheming in their cages. That whole conversation pissed me off too... because once again it was like, "come on .... you know someone is listening"

Last weeks episode was awesome. This week was average. I hope next weeks will be as good as it looks. The only thing I want explained is that huge fucking foot statue...with 4 toes...3...whatever... I mean, that thing was huge...where did the rest of it go, even if it somehow crumbled or broke you'd expect giant boulders around it still. Damn random giant freak foot!

Yeah I knew the boat thing was going to go down like that, I mean they had motor boats so I knew they'd use them instead of going on foot.

And I think that was Ben watching Sawyer and Kate have their little talk in the room with all of the monitors.
