I loved it.

Tarantino's film was the better in my opinion.

And the Thanksgiving preview was hilarious, especially at the end where the villain was skull fucking that dead guy.

...although this shouldn't be the end of the argument, I wouldn't be surprised if QT intended in the final product for the chronology to be fucked, contrary to the script.

eh it was alright.

First movie I'd give like 6.5/10. It was a fun cheesefest, but at times it was attempting to be waay too serious for me. Not to mention the ridiculous amounts of attempting to fill plot holes. If you are going to make a cheese horror flick, don't waste our time trying to make the plot make sense.

Death Proof I'd give a solid 8/10, but I'll never watch either of them again. The dialogue for 30 minutes was very very slow and it never lead to anything. I'm cool with long dialogues about characters I care about, but I wanted the bitches to die LONG before they bit it. Of course maybe that was the intention, who knows. Driving scenes were pretty cool, the stuntwoman was awesome, and I love the cars.

Anyone notice of the two music themes throughout Planet Terror, one of them was an alteration of the Dewey theme from the Scream movies?

Saw it today.

My girlfriend and I both liked "Death Proof" best. That was a good movie with a great ending.

I wonder what happened to the cheerleader who was left with the dude who was selling the car?

well in one sense the 2nd group of girls' adventure couldve happened first, but that would only be assuming he didnt die at the end...it could explain his vengeance towards the first group of girls, but when the sherrif's are investigating it seems like he's bounced out of austin to somewhere in tennessee to prey on his next group of females

also i'm pretty sure that death proof happens before planet terror...the nurse is still on speaking terms with her father...also when fergie is getting out of her car one time the radio is saying something about "in memory of jungle julie"

The movie(s) was(were) great. When the first one ended the lights accidentally came on and stayed on for 5 minutes. The mexicans in the front row left thinking the movie was over. I thought it was pretty funny. And after the second movie finished they gave us all free passes b/c of the light malfunction.

here is a pic of robert rodriguez

obviously quentin had roles in both flicks ("rapist #1" and "loud friend in bar") but was rodriguez in either one as even a small cameo? i didnt notice but maybe someone else did

also here is another pic i found while google imaging robert rodriguez that i thought was part funny and part hottie

also the john wayne impersonation by kurt russell when talking about "you're ok in my book" was pretty funny

the original El Mariachi(not Banderas) was one of the deputies in PT, and Sex Machine from From Dusk Til Dawn was the other one

i do recall seeing Sex Machine as the deputy...when dude bit his finger off he shouldve used his penis pistol from FDTD

or perhaps when they ripped him in like 3 pieces!

""Did anyone else want Kurt Russell to "win" in Death Proof?""

Sitting through the interminable, terrible, breakfast conversation about falling in a ditch and wanting to drive a muscle car made me hope that not only did the girls have terrible deaths at the hands of stuntman mike, but individual deaths. like, 4 separate sequences of car-on-girl gore.

not a bad movie, but geeeeeeeez man... was it bad acting, bad dialogue, or both? I know sometimes things scripted can be completely sunk by incompetent direction/acting, but everything the girls in the second half of that movie said fell flat, almost to the point of ruining a great three hours.

^ive seen him in other works but considering the tarantino tie-in, he's just explaining it in simple terms for those who arent movie buffs

^^i dont know if i wanted russell to win, but i expected him to win...however at the end it seems like zoe was kind of death proof and it turns out she is an actual stuntwoman so im guessing she actually was on the hood of the car doing her stunts...that made the ditch story seem more relevant

zoe bell did all of her stunts herself, and they were 100% real and at full speed with no undercranking or effects

undercranking is where they shoot the stunts at 40-50 MPH with the camera running slow, then turn it up to make the backgrounds look like they're moving faster. death proof was shot at full speed.

although my last post was actually what zoe says to the ditzy one when she insinuates that she's australian (maybe slightly paraphrased)...i got a kick out of that

Having seen this for a third time, it just confirms how much more rewatchable Death Proof is than Planet Terror. It still drags a little in two spots (both during the first set of girls), but the car chase is even more riveting when you can focus on what Zoe's doing in all of the shots.

Death Proof on DVD on September 18th. From what I can gather, the DVD release might be the non-double feature cut, which would add 27 minutes to the runtime.

Planet Terror on DVD on October 16th. I don't care so I didn't bother getting any details.

Of the two movies, I only care about planet terror. The other movie was just a bunch of girls sitting around and talking... not my kind of film.

The dialogue that they cut off during the time the movie was out in theatres. Probably nothing major.

yeah probably just more tarantino relatively-meaningless dialogue

it would be cooler if they showed stuntman mike killing more people or doing something

It'll probably be in there. The "missing reel" thing was only half a joke; there really are missing reels there.

With that said, I'm not buying the Planet Terror DVD so I won't be able to tell you.

It's not one movie.

It's two movies they cut down and put together.

That was the whole point.

Except I never want to see Planet Terror again, so that wouldn't be the point at all.

It's two movies. The fact that they released them together for the price of one ticket was the idea of the experience, but it doesn't change the fact that they're two different movies. That's why, for instance, Tarantino didn't do all the aging and artifact bullshit that Rodriguez did.

I am pretty sure they will later on put them into one giant pack as well. I imagine that they are doing this to make up for the (very) disappointing ticket sales.

So the transfer on the Death Proof DVD is absolutely beautiful, but aside from a few choice lines, I don't think the extra twenty minutes really adds anything significant to the movie. Oh well, it's still fucking great.
