Absolutely brutal stretch coming up. 3 against Milwaukee, 3 against the Cubs and 3 against the second best team in New York. Meanwhile the Braves get 3 with the Pirates and 4 with the Nationals.

We probably will be a game or two back after the next 10 days but no worries..

Carlos Gomez was called up and Pelfrey sent down. I'm sure Gomez is only here until the 5th spot in the rotation comes up again but I'm excited to see him play. Jose Reyes said that Gomez is the only guy in the Mets system faster than he... and he's only 20!

Fantastic AB by Delgado. Fouled off 4 nasty pitches and got the walkoff......... walk.

First place again even with the Mets playing a tough part of their schedule and the Squaws playing a bunch of shit teams..

the mets have to be the most exciting team in baseball

i personally like chavez in the lineup more than alou, but i am partial to guys who can fly, even if they are avg hitters

That OF of Endy, Beltran, and Chavez would be the best defensive outfield of our generation. That game on Sunday was amazing to watch.

Oh, yeah. Reyes is your 2007 MVP. Book it.

Think you meant Gomez instead of giving Endy 2/3 of the outfield to himself

But has he surpassed Lastings in the organizational depth chart? I still think we should've traded him for a pitcher last year.

Shut up with your gay ass crying about the Mets schedule. That is almost as gay as David Wright's voice. It's already been proven that the Braves have the harder schedule this year.

The Mets are just lucky that Chipper have been out and the lineup has gone cold.

P.S. The Cubs are not good unless Rich Hill is pitching

I'm not complaining. Larry did enough of that for both teams. The Cubs have a really good Run differential and the Brewers had the best record in baseball. The Braves are playing the Pirates and the Gnats. Just stating a fact.

and yeah, I meant Carlos Gomez. I think he was always a bit higher thought of than Milledge by Omar but none of them compare to Fernando Martinez...

If Peter Angelos wasn't a piece of shit he would've been traded and we would have Roy Oswalt right now.

What's up with Pelfrey? I thought he was a cant miss kinda guy....he has looked awful thus far.

If I were the mets I would try and dump him in a package for Willis later this summer.

I hate the Mets and all, but Aramis Ramirez's reaction to his grand slam last night was worth a bean ball. If he did that after hitting one against the Braves, I would hope that he got one in the back the next time.

I guess he could argue that he was making sure it was fair, but he clearly took his time going down the line with a punk ass look on his face.

I miss Pedro

The good thing is that he will be throwing low to mid 90's again. Pedro would have drilled him in the back and then taken a few steps toward home plate like he did with Jose Guillen last year...

lastings milledge is the pride of new york!

Quote :
"NEW YORK (AP) -- Mets prospect Lastings Milledge is in trouble with team once again, this time for making a rap CD that uses foul and offensive language.

The song, Bend Ya Knees was on the Web site souljaboirecords.com, the record label the 22-year-old outfielder founded. Milledge can be heard using a racist term for blacks and language derogatory to women.

"We don't approve of the lyrics," New York general manager Omar Minaya said Wednesday.

Minaya said he spoke to Milledge -- currently at Triple-A New Orleans and on the disabled list -- and conveyed the team's position. Minaya said no disciplinary action had been taken, but added that could change.

"We're going to review the conversation and we'll go from there," he said. "He's understanding why we feel that way."

While the song was removed from the Web site earlier Wednesday, Minaya said he believed the song was going to be released.

"We can't do anything to prevent its release," he said.

Milledge was 0-for-3 with the Mets before being sent to the minors on April 13. In his rookie season, he hit .239 with four home runs in 166 at-bats.

Milledge was the Mets' top prospect when he made his major league debut in the middle of last year. In his first month, he showed off the talent that made him such a highly regarded rookie, but also made his share of mistakes on and off the field.

After hitting his first big league homer -- a tying drive with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning against San Francisco _ he perturbed players in both dugouts by high-fiving fans along the railing when he ran out to right field to take his position.

Later, he was reprimanded for not running hard on the bases. He also arrived late to the clubhouse in Philadelphia for a day game.

Near the end of the season, a pointed sign was posted in his locker at Washington -- "Know your place, rook. Your teammates," it said.

Milledge is out of action because of an injured right foot injury. He isn't expected to be ready to play for at least another few weeks.

"His focus is to get healthy," Minaya said.

Manager Willie Randolph sidestepped questions about Milledge before the game against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.

"I don't have any reaction," he said. "I haven't heard much about it.""

FUCK! I saw innings 1-6 but I had a damn conference call and couldn't watch the end.. oh well, that's why I have MLB.tv archive...

Oh and I think it's safe to say Lastings is officially trade bait. Gomez has all the tools AND the right attitude. Kids going to be good when he fills out..

probably if you have a keeper league, but when Alou comes back, Gomez will probably get irregular playing time or get sent back to the minors

of course, Alou gets hurt more than Biakabutuka so you never know

I just heard Willie say on WFAN that he is moving Delgado down in the order...

Tonights lineup is:

Reyes
Green
Beltran
Wright
Duke
Delgado
Easley
Gomez
Perez

Who has the highest average in that lineup?

Oliver Perez

good to see us pulling away in the East

just like i figured, the braves could not keep up that torrid pace they were putting up the first month and a half of the season

i think they can still get the wild card though

I wouldn't call it pulling away when we're only 4.5 up in May

Still over 100 games left

Now Boston, on the other hand, you can say is pulling away

^ i know exact when it is

i also know gonzalez is hurt, wickman is shaky everytime he comes out, andruw is hitting like david dejesus and chipper is (as usual) hurt.

Do i expect the braves to make the playoffs? Yes

Do i expect them to be able to compete with the Mets over a 162 game haul (even though Braves own us in head to head)? No, I don't

so we've lost a middle reliever

andruw is playing as bad as he possibly can (although he's showing signs of life lately)

and chipper is out

the race is over!

I give 2 shits about the division. We won it 14 years in a row and it did us little good, I'll take a wild card for a change and maybe more success in the playoffs. When the mess win 5 or 6 divisions in a row THEN I'll consider taking them seriously.

But it is cute to see all you little mess fans get excited about the possibilty of winning it 2 years in a row.

It's pretty obvious we're the class of the NL. Told everyone that in March when certain people were throwing around 3-year ERA+ numbers like they mattered... Sure, there is a lot of time out and I'm not counting out the Braves or especially the Phillies but unless we get KILLED by injuries (and I'm talking depth injuries like starters and Easley/Chavez) we should win the division by 7-8 just like I said all along.

The Braves are still my pick for the Wild Card though...

^ actually, I don't really care about the division. It's a means to the goal. Anything less than a pennant is a disappointment. I know that sounds too Yankee-ish but the World Series was ours to lose last year after the yanks lost and the Cards just got hot at the right time and we lost it.

[Edited on May 28, 2007 at 6:43 PM. Reason : p.s.- anyone hear Pedro on Friday? 95 again? I think I pissed myself when I heard that...]

Lincecum - Ollie tonight. Should be one hell of a matchup. Perez has been sick all year and Lincecum is the next rookie to take on the highest expectations (King Felix 2 yrs ago and Liriano last year).

Shea should be hopping tonight. Oh and the Giants radio station said no Bonds or Durham tonight.
