It was very cool. Like, an ironic demonstration of how unironic they are.

Critics thought Jack White was the savior of rock. They were wrong. Arcade Fire is running shit, period. Legendary status achieved with two classic albums in a row. At this point they're top 25 all time and making a run at top 10.

thats strange, i thought most people would like good music

if schoolkids could make the 7th harry potter book come out the same night, i'll be there. If not, ill just wait til the next day and pick it up.

They're nowhere near top 50 of all time. All this aggrandizing of Arcade Fire is starting to make me sick. Sure, they are good - great even...but let's be real now. Plus this 30$ tag for seeing them now is freaking ridiculous. I saw them last year for less than half of that...are they do big for their own briches? No....but the entire indie community thinks they're the best thing since hoodies.

THEYVE ONLY GOT 2 RECORDS. Neither are legendary at that...

Quote :
"With the buzz surrounding Arcade Fire’s new album, Neon Bible (out Tuesday), reaching near-deafening levels after their Saturday Night Live performance last week, we started thinking: Could this group of anthem-prone indie-rockers score the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s album chart? According to Mark Pearson, VP Retail Editor at Hits magazine, the idea isn’t as crazy as you’d think. “They have a very good chance,” says Pearson. “We’re thinking they’ll sell 100,000 the first week--and if it hits that it’s probably a No. 1.” "

hey dudes, i just came from Schoolkids and they will have the stickers and posters from the Merge pre-orders available as well. Plus, it will cheaper to get it from Schoolkids ($8.99 which is like $9.60 with tax) than anywhere else.

my last midnight sale was hail to the theif.

the same night a clay aiken cd came out

and they happened to have it at school kids too

with a news crew covering the "clay aiken midnight sale" at schoolkids

there was a long line of radiohead looking fans, and they were interviewing aikens mother in front of the line trying to pass it off like we were there for clay aiken.

So, here's the thing.

When "Intervention" leaked, I was underwhelmed. However, it's been stuck in my head for weeks.

A few years ago, there was that big push to make the more orchestral end of post-rock (particularly GYBE! and Sigur Ros) the new face of rock music, and it never really worked.

This is basically the same sound with a hookier twist and conventional vocals. That can't be the only difference between semi-obscurity and a #1 album, can it?

I haven't listened to the new album outside of the single, so I can't comment on it, and obviously Funeral is a masterpiece...it's just something that's been bumping around in my head.

I got to Schoolkids and there were two people there.

The Schoolkids guys said they had amended their hopes and were looking for five total.

I guess we truly are in the internet age.

*sigh*

Speaking of the internet age, they released "Black Wave/Bad Vibrations" a while back as a free single on iTunes. However, it was listed as "Intervention." Five years ago, it would've been shipped as a misprint promo single and would've made a nice little collector's item. Now, it's just a typo.

*double sigh*

BTW, I got the special edition just because I wanted to see what was up with this flipbook nonsense, and they're truly odd. Though I, too, like the artwork on the Kid A special edition, this is the only one I feel like is worth the extra money ($5 more than the regular) other than the sweetass Amnesiac book.
